I don't feel "let down" by the players - I'm just a fan who watches football and chooses to spend money following the team. Like everyone, I was gutted - but not as much as I would have been if we hadn't won last year.
Pretty much exactly sums up how I feel.

The only thing I'd add is that I feel disappointed for them (not at them) because as a team - and at an individual level for some - they did not play at the level of which we know they are capable. But so long as that spurs them on to strive for bigger and better things, it's not the end of the world.

I too felt for the players. They are more answerable to themselves and their teammates than us, and will no doubt be gutted.

But life goes on. Interesting at the dinner talking to people "in the know". The belief seems to be that we'll be thereabouts next year and the two very best teams in the comp. played in the GF - and that there's nothing between them.

A far as the first half went I thought the team tried. The Eagles were hot but so was the Swans efforts. The Eagles got the breaks both with the bounce of the ball and some umpiring decisions which although maybe not wrong were interpreted differently to things at the other end. We had Goldspink at our forward end who kept on holding up play and they had Vozzo who was allowing 'advantage' decisions we weren't getting. I commented to a friend at hald time that if it could go wrong it did go wrong for our team.

Interestingly, many of the same old 'white ants' have surfaced again in this thread as we have had during the year.
I'll give it another couple of ours and I reckon they will all be out here with their knives.

I am glad the players are 'team players' because many of their so called 'supporters' on RWO sure aren't.

It's a lot more complicated when we lose. There's more need for analysis. I think the Grand Final perfectly mirrored the position of the two teams. The Eagles have better players with more speed and the Swans are either fitter of have more spirit, or whatever. We weren't so much outsmarted as beaten by a brilliant team in the first half.

I thought the game was over at that stage. The lead was out of reach and the Eagles have great ability to finish hard. I have no respect for a team doing show pony goals when the game is lost - I wanted to leave when we started doing it (against Adelaide at the SCG?) this year. But in the second half the Eagles fell off in intensity, maybe because they couldn't maintain it - or maybe the hard run to the GF was hitting them, and we lifted a lot.

When Goodes kicked the goal at the start of the final quarter, I thought we had it won. But the Eagles somehow managed to lift again and both teams gave us the best quarter of football imaginable. This wasn't us trying to make the scoreline look respectable - this was us aiming to win the bloody game. I was gutted that we didn't but left with a sense of pride that we nearly outplayed a team of better players on guts alone.

We expect to win the close ones and that's a reflection of the spirit of Roos' team. This time it didn't happen. But once they had a chance to match the Eagles they never stopped trying so I can live with the loss.

Can you please rewrite that in a different way so I can actually understand what it is you are trying to say.

                    Much appreciated.

What a load of crap - "tried" my arse!! The team played like absolute crap in the first half and they have no one or nothing to blame but themselves.

Reading your post I am not surprised. You wrote only 5 words which had 4 letters or more and you messed up 40 per cent of them. Try a remedial class or get mum to explain.
