    I definitely don't want to trade Malceski and would prefer not to trade Grundy.

    However, adding Everitt to our side increases our chances of gaining another flag than many other players in our side.

      I realise that, but i think many people are jumping the gun with this flag talk. Did we not JUST fall short this year? and it can't all be blamed on the ruck, what about Buchanan? or LRT's dropped mark? Kennelly's decision to take on Cousins when he was 30 metres from his own goal? Hall and Bolton missing 2 sitters each? any of those could be blamed for the 2 points we needed to win the game. We've been in the last two GF's without Spida, we can do it again, and Grundy and Malceski will be our future, Spida wont.

          just to put out those rumours that either ryan or the eski or any other promising swans player wants to return to melbourne, paul roos has just stated in an article,

          "There's a few players who have indicated that they really want to stay but they're also half-mindful of other opportunities," Roos said.

          "That's only one or two players but none of them are from the 22 who played in the grand final."

          IMO, i reckon we should swap doyle and a third-round pick for everitt. everitt is a good player and would do us a heap of good in getting us another premiership next year. i would also like to get rid of benny but we all know it isnt going to happen.

            Not the first time I've heard that. Why? What makes Ben Matthews so bloody special that he's untradeable??

            Anyone???

              I'm not blaming it on anyone. I'm recognising that even making, let alone winning, grand finals is really really tough. We need to improve a lot each year. That we've made it in the past two years doesn't mean we can do so again. I think adding Everitt can help with that.

                Too old and he's a limited player.

                Only a club after experience would be interested - Brisbane may be the only ones who fall into this category.

                  roos loves him too much. seriously- for no real reason matthews is in the leadership group. i think this continually astounds swans supporters. the only so-called 'reason' why he is in the team, let alone in the leadership group, is because he has a "good knowledge of the game and how to play tactics" or something to that extent. i read it in a newspaper recently. annoying, isnt it?

                    And then when Everitt or Jolly gets injured in round 1 where does that leave us? We are looking to STRENGTHEN our ruck division, not weaken it.

                        Doyle himself told me that the Swans want to have three senior ruckmen. When I suggested that was because they were so bloody tall they tended to break easily he just laughed. So We are looking at Doyle and Jolly and Spida. The competition for selection will do them all good.

                        And we need to start grooming a forward to replace Baz. Work out how you'd structure the team for the Grand Final if Baz was injured in the lead up? I bet you can't - at least not and imagine we'd have a chance against any other finalist team. He is the one irreplaceable element in the team - and we've done so well largely because he's now played 100 straight for us. (And his role is vital whether he's playing well or not.)

                            I think we all agree that we would LIKE to have Everitt.... But we don't NEED him....

                            As I have said earlier... Jolly will be our main ruck man and Everitt and Doyle will be used as tall marking fwds that will rotate in and out of the ruck.

                            Keep LRT and Ted down back as the tall backs, and the ethletic runners of Goodes and O'Keefe... Sorted....

                            But under no circumstances should we be trading any top round draft pick. Happy to trade anyone who WANTS to go (No point keeping them)... but 3rd round draft pick at best...

                              Yes I want him but I don't think we need to do anything drastic to get him.

                              As I've been saying, the pre season draft is my preferred method but if it is to be a trade then a 3rd round draft pick (unlikely) or our second round pick.

                              Furthermore, if we were to trade someone such as Vogels, it could be to a club like Brisbane for a high second round pick, therefore we could retain a pick in a very good draft in the second round (possibly early on).

                              Brisbane look like they'll be very active with players wanting to go all over the place so it is a possible scenario that could benefit us.

                              I don't think a straight player swap for Everitt is going to happen or necessarily benefits us in the way involving a third party could.

                              In summary:

                              Vogels ---> Brisbane
                              Brisbane's Pick 21 (?) ---> Sydney
                              Sydney's Pick 33 ----> Hawks
                              Everitt ---> Sydney

                              Lions get a talented tall forward
                              Vogels gets an opportunity to play regularly
                              Sydney get an early second round pick and a ruckman
                              Hawks get a second round pick
                              Spida gets a shot at a flag
