Schneider is a good kick - accurate short pass, tho proned to lairising at times. Can get good distance too for a small fella. One sided, but that's a common lefty complaint.

Speaking of which, did anyone notice Malceski's excellent right foot kick in Q1 - 1st time I've seen him use it & hope it's not too long before I see it again.

Of the young blokes, standouts on the day;

Simpkin~ looked to have very clean hands and a good burst of speed, plus he took the bump well for a slight bloke. very interesting prospect.

Jack~ by far the standout out on the day, stood Acker and made Eade move him to HBF to try and get some ball. Best first up effort on a champion i have seen in a long while. Admittedly pre-season so i have not yet wet my pants. Kick seems to have genuine penetration going forward. Likely lad yet to be seen how he marks overhead but more than handy inside/stopper at this stage of his career.

I will leave the comments of others alone, i mean they have all played heaps of footy !

I think Roos is a great coach, and seems like a really approachable person, but we all have our opinions, and i personally think you're too harsh and picky, considering.

Eski has been played across HB for most of the past year. With his excellent footskills, the coaching staff seem to like him playing the "quarterback" role to set up play arising from rebound 50s (like Gilbee plays for the Dogs).

I think our foot skills over distance are just okay. Our game plan consists of a lot of short kicks to position.

Dermie seems to think the Swans are the best field-kicking team in the competition. Not sure I agree with him, though there has been a massive improvement over the past few years.

Monty isn't a great kick but he's a smart kick, particularly over short distances. The number of times he manages to spot a player on a lead in a crowded 50 from 10 or 15m outside is amazing.

Kirk's kicking isn't the best but, a bit like Cressa in his later years, I reckon he's learned to kick within his limitations, with the result that it is more effective than it ought to be.

Can anyone tell me when 27 points became a drubbing, or trouncing? as it's been described in various stories on the internet. I thought a rusty Sydney side did really well today, with alot of the rookies shining, and suprised me on the scoreboard.

To be honest Liz, I am nearly always surprised at how effective his kicks are. He seems to be very aware of how long it is going to take his floater to travel the distance and finds an appropriate player, in appropriate space, to lob one down on.

I look forward to that. maybe some of the young'uns will be given more 'stopping' responsibility this year and Kirk will be used more attackingly. I guess we'll wait and see.

Definitely noticed that too. First game back for Kirk and it looked like he didn't miss a beat with his running around the ground. Looked sharp So did his tattoo.
