Most overtly biased umpiring I have seen

Liz, all you have done is inadvertantly agree with me. I have been trying to get the point across that there were many bad calls on Sat night. Both ways. But umpires are only human, they must make split decisions at a hectic pace. Unfortunately they often get it wrong... There is still no point blaming them for a loss.
If, in fact, what you all say re: the boo-ing, and the intended targets, is true, then I stand corrected. Would still have liked to have heard Matty speak. Apparently he thanked you all for being so passionate...so I'm told.
You do realise that we are still all hurting over this loss and for you to come on here and "discuss" this with us right know smells awfully like gloating?Comment

And you can't tell the difference between pre-match jousting and post-match gloating?Comment

Then reply to those rather than trying to assume all Swans fans are saying the same thing.
You could address the specific comments where they say the umpires were responsible (and yes there are a number of those) as opposed to the many posts that were complaining about specific umpiring errors.
Anyway, had my fun, see you next time we beat you. Lets hope you make the finals, still gotta get back that Plugga kick.Comment

Trolling, pure and simple.
Should have been banned after the first post.

The unfortunate thing about sports that have referees (ie; virtually EVERY sport), is that
alot can be decided on the blow of a whistle. Bad calls are made all the time, quite often
leading to "upset" or "controversial" results. We Bombers fans are not completely innocent of
bagging the maggots for this reason or that, it happens after nearly every loss. Every
supporter of every team is guilty of this at one stage or another. And Umpire's/Referees
are only human afterall. What are the options? One would be to do away with umpire's
altogether, and design some kind of utilitarian, unbiased, all-seeing robot drone, that will
never once make a bad call. But where would be the fun in that?
Over the past season or two, we have had some bad run in's with the maggots, and it's
actually satisfying to see some of the (bad) calls this year going our way. It's just a real
shame the Umps had such a bad night on Saturday...it has totally overshadowed a great,
deserving-of-a-win, performance from our boy's. Even P. Roos was quoted in the
Courier Mail, today, as saying we were deserved winners. Of course this has been
covered up by all of his bitching over the calls made during the game...
Some days the calls go our way, sometimes the other... Eg: What about McPhee being called for holding, right in front, when clearly one of your boy's had him by the arm??
As for the deplorable way you all reacted to Lloyd's speech...DISGUSTING! Was it Lloyd that made the bad calls? No. Would we have jeered likewise, were the shoe on the other foot? No.
But, at the end of the night, we won! And that's all that matters!!
How's it feel?Comment

Mods have been known to delete posts of regular solid contributors of this site at the drop of a hat when it suits, yet a couple of tosspots come on to troll and cause trouble, what happens, we get an extra 10 pages of responses and discussion.

I'd have to quote so much stuff it would become a joke. Seemed much easier to post somethinng, obviously directed at them, then to go through and quote 20+ posts and reply individualy to all of them.
Anyway, had my fun, see you next time we beat you. Lets hope you make the finals, still gotta get back that Plugga kick.Comment

I am normally fairly restrained at the footy but proudly admit that I stayed and booed as loud as possible for a good 5 minutes after the siren. It wasn't being a bad loser, it was to let the umpires and AFL know that Sydney fans are finally angry enough at the biased treatment we receive and lack of "home " umpiring that all other interstate teams get. Maybe now the fans have spoken up we MAY get fair treatment - probably not. If I had have had a bottle on hand I think I would have thrown it at the umpires! I'm glad it sounded loud on TV and I hope it is spoken about for a while yet. And how pathetic are Essendon that they can only win games with the umpires help.---------||--ANNE--||----------Comment

The umps claim the umps got it all right. Go umps!
I think of all of the decisions the one that confused me the most was the 50 against Hall after the push in the back on Michael in the goal square. From what I could see Hall marked, there was a whistle and he played on straight away and goaled; I'm not sure how Hall was supposed to know the whistle wasn't for him. On the tele did they show a replay of Hall looking at the umpire prior to kicking the goal?I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

I guess that article just proves 2 things.
How the umpires understand the rules and how the players understand the rules, are completely different.
The umpires Department are just as stupid as the brightly coloured clowns that run around the field.Comment

Nice try scumps.
If the Barry Hall free was for a hip and shoulder with the ball more than 5 metres away, arguable, why did the scump signal a free kick for pushing/hands in the back, not arguable, clearly shown in shot.Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment
