Solid performance, but nothing to get excited about. Too many dropped marks and shanked kicks for my liking. Also Melbourne’s midfield defensive pressure was at times totally non existent, that can make almost any side look good. However many times I liked the crisp close in skills to free up the runners.

On current form Brennan, Richards and Grundy should not be in our best 22. Grundy may have done a couple of nice things, but conceding two easy goals late wiped them out. I did feel a bit sorry for Brennan, because he had such limited game time he seemed to be trying too hard to impress when he did get out there. Teddy is just playing like crap.

Umps were horrible. Four of Melbourne’s first five goals came from frees.

I’m almost ready to eat humble pie over Bevan. While his skills are still not up to what one would expect from a first team player, his courage is simply amazing. Did anybody else see him back into that marking contest in the 3rd quarter? It looked like he was going to be smashed to smithereens, instead he was the first to pick himself up and won the clearance.

Pleased as punch with Monty’s game, accurate kicking for goal was the icing on his cake. C Bolton, pound for pound is the best backman in the comp.

Still don't think we're getting much out of McVeigh, Ablett or J Bolton.
Both Richards and Grundy also look like weak links.

          Hall well beaten today.

Great games from Schneider (BOG), Goodes, Buchanan and Everitt.
Good games from Bevan, Jolly and O'Keefe.
NMW i would have said last half, for mine it was Monty(BOG)

None of the Swans was much good in the second half - maybe Goodes, Monty and Schneiderman aside who seemed to be the three intent on building a decent score.

As for Hall, they didn't seem to be kicking it to him at all today. Must have decided he needed a bit of a rest.
Think your right there Liz, Monty,Goodes and Schneiderman got my 3,2,1.B1 and Noggy were good but seemed to disappear in the second half.As for not kicking it to Hally,i think we had 12 goal scorers which IMO is pretty bloody good.

Both the hobbits (Schneider and Buchanan) were great today, very tough to say who was BOG. Monty's best game since the 2005 GF. I know the commentators mentioned it 847 times, so I'll only say it once more: their run and carry through the middle was a highlight

Yep - that just confounds me.

I guess the third quarter was average, but at least we outscored them.

Could easily have been either of them.

please please continue the playing up of b1 melb media commentators , at least that way we can con one of the vic clubs for a first round draft pick or a decent midfielder or tall backman.

I thought the game seemed like a training drill against the reserves. The swans of '05 would've probably restricted them to less than 55-60 and won by 80+. This is what really irks me about our style is how we don't totally demolish sides, we had the momentum but it petered out in the final qtr. I though our ball handling was very lack lustre and stuff like that against the better teams will cause turnovers galore (remember the game vs kangaroos?). Also, the delivery into the fwd 50 was good but not great.

I think it's great we have a hard final 4 games because it'll really gauge where we're at, all of them are pretty tough.

Oh and can I just ask: keiran jack where the bloody hell are you?

I think we don't have that much depth in our list, it's time for some serious thinking on what shape our list will take in the next 3 years. If you look at it

                    - hall, everitt, o'loughlin and barry wont be around for more than 2 years
                    - jude bolton, ben matthews, nic fosdike, jarred crouch... 2 of them have to be traded in exchange for quality mid fielders.
                    - the backline is OK but i really think the fringe players need to step up.

We need a quality tall forward with years left in him and temperament, 2 really good mid fielders and maybe organise some higher draft pick through the trades of the blokes above.

Having the 2nd best percentage in the comp means that we do it better then 14 other teams

Why not just wish for another Premiership while you're at it?
And the man who started it all, the Schneiderman . . . . .
