You are right. I cannot honestly recall a solid four quarter effort this year. Even the last 2 years there was more than a few wins relied on last quarter surges after negligable earlier terms. Once that "come-back" talent has faded it don't leave a lot!

It really doesn't mean much when most of the games are low-scoring and we barely produce four solid quarters of footy. The 1-point losses against the Eagles and Bombers plus the draw against the Lions have cost us dearly and we might miss out on the finals race altogether because of those results.

nothing has gone right this year, injuries have come into it and the last two years have taken their toll, the sooner the seasons over the better.

Eagles will be without Kerr, Judd and Hansen next week against an emotion charged Essendon. An Essendon victory is very possible.

Adelaide are a big chance of beating the Pies aswell.

So if Essendon and Adelaide win, and we lose to an in form Hawthorn - We're out of the 8.

Pies got these players from priority draft picks thanks to them finishing in the bottom 3 a few times in the last 5-6 yrs

So how does everyone like our chances of beating the Hawks next Sunday?

Whether we make the 8 is out of our hands if you ask me.

Sydney will beat the Hawks next week. Even without Buchanan and Micky O. Provided Leo plays (and at least one of Dempster/LRT wouldn't hurt). Bookmark it.

Agree SimonH. The backline was loose last night but will be stiffened up with Leo Barry and LRT, I'm not sure about Dempster but he would give some run through the lines. We were exposed also by lack of height in the backs and it looks ominous for next week with the Hawks having good height with Franklin, Roughhead and Boyle. We can do it though even without Amon.

Looks like we're safe in the 8, Richmond has just about won the game against Essendon, so they're gone.

Yep, even if we lost to Hawthorn by 100+ and StK beat Richmond by 100+, we'd still be comfortably ahead on %. Great, we'll see an even more lacklustre performance next week.

Time to rest some sore bodies and blood a few youngsters? A week off may be the spark some guys need going into first week of finals.

                              2008 starts early

With Essendon losing today, the Swans are definitely in the eight. So next week will be the perfect time to rest everyone who needs it. The Hawks on the other hand, have a top 4 spot to play for, so expect that they will come out firing.

Anyone that needs surgery requiring a rehab that will cut into next season, should get it now, even if that means Kennelly and Hall won't play again this year. It hardly matters anyway.

The Swans need to rebuild now, with a few new players and new game plan. I would give Barlow, Laidlaw, Moore, Thornton, Brabazon, Simpkin and White all a go for the next 2 weeks. I don't know if it is still possible to elevate another rookie, if so, maybe Rowe or Jack again.

This year is shot, so lets give ourselves something to look forward to in 2008.

Jack is elevated I believe, Rowe might've been handy.
