How on earth can someone explain to me please, how on earth would he trade 2 premiership players, guys who have played in 2 grannies and heaps of finals, 1 (schneids) who was out of form for alot of '07 and another (dempster) who was just about ready to move to the next level I just don't get it...

I thought Dempster had promise and Schneider had a dud '07 big deal.

Why can't they shove off players like bolton and fosdike and crouch and matthews and barry and get 2 or 3 quality players for the mid field/wing and a big strong tall defender.

Great now we get to see schnieder and that tosser milne carve up our defence when we play them. And dempster teaching us a lesson for dumping him.

I dunno I think the next few yrs will be a little plateau and the Vics might dominate for a while. Good to have 1 flag and 5 straight finals appearances though. 1 more flag and AFL would have exploded in this state bigtime.

Well, according to the article from Roosy, tried to address a couple of structural needs within the team, by trading away players that we can cover easily?

Why can't they shove off players like bolton and fosdike and crouch and matthews and barry and get 2 or 3 quality players for the mid field/wing and a big strong tall defender.

Let me put it this way. If someone else came to you and said, I will trade you these 5 players for 2 quality midfielders and a tall defender, would you take it? Crouch, Mathews and Barry have ZERO trade value.

Bolton and Fosdike may have a little value, but they are 27-year old high draft picks who have shown a bit of heart, but not a lot of skills. What would YOU give up for them?

I'm not saying it was a brilliant week by any stretch of the imagination, but they had some goals to reach, and they recruited as best they could to meet those needs, PLUS hung onto a 1st round and 2nd round pick. Sounds alright to me.

It's not that difficult to see - we gain two wingmen (two of Malceski, Kennelly or Mattner).

Trades

Just arrived back in Aus after 2 weeks in Florida (disney world). Heard that Dempster and Sneids were traded via internet on Friday US time (sat here) and we were all amazed at Sneids and that all we got for 2 premiership players was a second round draft pick. Gee do we get Tossed at the trade table, we pay a first round for a 3rd string ruck in Jolls (turned out ok in 2005).
We also pick up Henry Play"where" for a 3rd round pick. Someone in Sydney trades well ??. No arguement from us re Dempster perhaps not strong enough and he was after all struggling a couple of times this year,but Sneids, we havent
got any pace on forward line already, we think we might get burnt by this decision, if they wanted to trade a smaller type I would have gone for Buchanan, some of the errors he made in the last couple of games were bad.
We were also surprised that Bevean is with us but perhaps with the Matner
trade we wont need to play bevo.

I don't think Dempster would be in our best 22. Very ordinary in my opinion, and I'm very happy that he's no longer at the club.
