then it's a stupid point. trading is not just about superstars and recruitment coups but about setting out realistic goals and doing what can be done to fulfill them. yes, i'm disappointed jude didn't get traded and i think (perhaps in other circumstances only) a better bargain could have been driven with schneider and dempster but it appears that this year most of what could be done was done.

Mattner is pretty quick. Playfair frees up Malceski or Kennelly.

You missed the point. My arguement was about letting Schneider and Dempster go for nothing. I gave examples of times when the swans were given the chance to select or trade for those certain Superstars and they passed on all of them.

Playfair takes a key defender spot, allows Barry or C Bolton to move to a half back position, hence freeing up Malceski or Kennelly. Mattner will either go to half back to free up the other one or take the other wing himself.
