This can't be all, particularly where the rookies are concerned. There simply isn't room on the rookie list to retain all of Rowe, Matty O and Smith plus one of Brennan, Barlow and Jack. Only 3 second / 3rd year rookies are permitted.

And if they are promoting all of Barlow, Brennan and Jack, at least one more senior spot needs to be freed up even allowing for the fact they can move both Barry and Magic to be "outside" veterans.

There must be more to come.

Anyhow, we don't have many genuine ruckmen in the squad so talk of Jolly being traded and Donk delisted is just unrealistsic.

Very brave call which was in reference to Jolly being traded!

I am pretty satisfied with the delistings made - good to still have Doyle in the squad (ruckman take a long time to develop anyway).

As we have already established the fact that one more needs to go, I do hope it's not Donkey Doyle, I would be very pleased with his retention. He made a big fan of me after his efforts in the 06 GF. I'd love to see him get his body right and be a regular in the seniors.

                  Go Donk!

(PS Liz appears to be right about at least the rookie delistings being a bit on the skinny side, so there could be more to come.)

Assuming all three get promoted and no one is taken in PSD. It could 0, 1 or 2 more to go.

If you look at the player list on the Swans website. There are 39 players. This includes the 2 new boys and the 3 who have been delisted.

I noted that Jack was on this list already. Brennan and Barlow still on rookie list.

This would mean that there are 36 places on the list as it now stands. 3 still to come during draft.

I'm confused If we promote B & B does this mean 2 more have to go?

Doyle will stay as he is contracted for another year.

                      • It is 17 games to Vogels vs. 14 to Grundy for their careers, however 11 of Vogels' games came in 2005 so for the past two years it is actually 6 to 14 in Grundy's favour.
                      • Time on ground possibly in those games? This year is probably a bad sample size to compare as Grundy played 8 games and Vogels just 3, but Grundy was on the ground in those games 73% of the time versus 59% for Vogels. I know there have been doubts over Vogels' fitness, but I'm not sure that he was so puffed he could only play that number of games.
                      • Grundy (to me at least) appeared to be used in a couple of games in a set position/going in with a known job to do- Vogels appeared to always come in as a utility only (just my perception). On top of that Grundy appeared to have the opportunity to play multiple games in a row in the same position.
                      • Vogels got a senior gig for round 1 this year and was dropped after picking up 6 disposals and 1 goal, Grundy was then given a run of 3 straight games where he was not able to top those numbers from Vogels. Obviously stats don't tell the whole story, but I don't recall Grundy performing better than Vogels through those games.
                      • Vogels was brought in for 1 game at a time this year, whilst Grundy seemed to get a few more groupings of games together (and as per the point above, I'm not entirely convinced he was "earning" his spot for the following week with some of his performances)
Excellent post. Both have shown glimses of quality . Grundy, only once....his first game. Vogels, his first, and to varing degrees, in many others.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MT

Would a long term injury or retirement do the trick?

Yep, and apparently Doyle is paying the swans for the 875 odd injuries he has had over the years.
