Vogels was given EVERY opportunity to live a football fairy tale. Plucked from obscurity and given senior games at the Swans. Incredible. No shame in not cementing a spot in a forward line packed with stars at the time.
Good luck to Doyle. Sad that his body just couldn't get right.

But not as many opportunities as Grundy, who IMO, has shown less in all the games he has played.

I agree with your observation. IMO tho' Grundy is a better bet in terms of age, so think the club has made the right decision.

I hope so, I really do. They must see something that I don't, which wouldn't be too hard seeing as I live about 500k north of the SCG.

Vogels and Grundy have played almost the same number of senior games. Certainly within a couple of each other. So how has one had more opportunities than the other?

I am sure you are right, but I can't find the evidence . This year Reg played 8 games and Vogels 3. I would say that is less opportunity, this year anyway.

Ah, I worked it out, the Swans site shows the total/career games as the amount prior to the 2007 season, so adding career and 2007 games gives Vogels and Grundy the same total. I suppose I was still hanging on to Vogels game against the Doggies, but I still can't recall Grundy doing anything to show he will be any good. Oh well, time to put away the Vogel-coloured glasses.

When Vogels came into the side in 2005, I thought he straightened us up a bit. He really looked like he belonged to me. Good hands, strong body and fairly mobile. He was a little unlucky to be dropped late in that season for Bevan.

Grundy has shown enough to persevere with him. But after playing a blinder first up, he's been relatively quiet.

I think the difference was that Grundy went back to the reserves and dominated, Vogels didn't. By all accounts, Vogels seemed to be more capable at the top level, than he was in the Canberra competition.

We're getting rid of a lot of pace here. Both Simpkin and Phillips are probably top 5 in terms of leg speed at the club.

Probably bottom 5 in weight too.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
