    One injury to Jolly or Everitt and we're screwed.
    Going off your list we're not actually too bad.
    We have Jolly,Everitt,Currie,Playfair,Roberts-Thomson,Doyle,Rowe,White and possibly Goodes.
    The list you put up not only includes the newly traded players but ones that have been delisted as well as players that play key position that can pinch hit in the ruck.Some of the untried guys you have put on would never play ruck in the AFL eg.Sellar and Chartres.
    I FEEL THE NEED FOR SPEED!!!!!

      Yes, we are (that bad). We're among the worst half dozen clubs in the league for ruck depth. BRB was seeking to list the specialist rucks at each club (with a pretty fair degree of accuracy); not every tall bloke at each club. I'm sure that every club has at least 10 blokes over 190cm tall; that isn't really the point. (Oh, and Doyle and Rowe have already gone.)

      The whole point is to have a #3 able to play league footy at a moment's notice. Melbourne, for example: if one of Jamar or White goes down, Meesen is a specialist ruck who has a mature body and the ability to step in and play ruck in the AFL with a reasonable level of competitiveness. Obviously not a superstar and/or fully developed, or he'd be in the first 22, but he's a good-enough-quality backup that you're not embarrassed to throw him up against the big boys. Ditto Griffin/Moran for Adelaide; Leuenberger for Brisbane (did an amazing job when thrown to the wolves v Sydney last year); Bryan for Collingwood; Mooney able to step in for Geelong b/c he has substantial experience as a specialist ruck; Bailey for Hawthorn; Deluca for the Pahhhhr; Graham is pretty marginal for Richmond but at least has some AFL experience; Rix is your classic 'serviceable, not outstanding' #3 for the Saints; and the Dogs have heaps of backup options as all of Street, Minson and Skipper have fairly substantial AFL ruck experience.

      Only Carlton (a fair number of bodies, but most of them young and/or hopeless), Essendon, Freo, the Roos and Weagles are in the same boat as us. And any number of them may yet pick up a spare mature ruck in the ND/PSD. Which, given our small number of relatively high picks (and non-participation in the PSD), won't happen to Sydney. We only collect ruckmen through trades, low draft picks and rookie promotions.

Meeson is a dud who hasn't shown anymore potential than Paul Chambers ever did

        Ditto Griffin/Moran for Adelaide; Leuenberger for Brisbane (did an amazing job when thrown to the wolves v Sydney last year) Agree Brisbane and Crows have the most ruck depth in the league;

        Bryan for Collingwood Is servicable but I dont think he will be on an AFL list in 12 months;

        Mooney able to step in for Geelong b/c he has substantial experience as a specialist ruck;How is Mooney different from Goodes in this respect?

        Bailey for Hawthorn; ??? - He has played 1 senior game and is coming off a knee reco this season - has potential but hardly in a position to step up for the hawks in 08

        Deluca for the Pahhhhr; See Meeson

        Graham is pretty marginal for Richmond but at least has some AFL experience; Would get mauled if forced to play ruck for the whole season

        Rix is your classic 'serviceable, not outstanding' #3 for the Saints; Agreed, but Saints supporters think he's a dud and Lyon obviously doesnt rate him either

        and the Dogs have heaps of backup options as all of Street, Minson and Skipper have fairly substantial AFL ruck experience.Yes they do but none of them could hold a spot in a doggies side desparate for talls this year

        I reiterate that I agree that our ruck depth is shallow, but the fact is that there are only 4-5 sides in the league who aren't in the same boat

          I don't know if I normally disagree with you Will, but here goes anyway!

          Agree Brisbane and Crows have the most ruck depth in the league. Ah well, we have to agree on something!

          Bryan for Collingwood Is servicable but I dont think he will be on an AFL list in 12 months. Lots of 3rd ruckmen won't be on the list in 12 months; being a back up ruckman isn't a long-term occupation. You either go up to #1/2 or you go down to nowhere. Doesn't mean every club doesn't need one, though.

          Mooney able to step in for Geelong b/c he has substantial experience as a specialist ruck; How is Mooney different from Goodes in this respect? One word-- knees.

          Bailey for Hawthorn; ??? - He has played 1 senior game and is coming off a knee reco this season - has potential but hardly in a position to step up for the hawks in 08 In a far better position than Currie (or that new rookie giant who's barely played Aussie rules) to do so.

          Deluca for the Pahhhhr; See Meeson And I have roughly the same answer. Haven't seen him play live, though, but from all reports is your classic 'good enough to compete without (yet) being top notch' developing ruckman.

          Graham is pretty marginal for Richmond but at least has some AFL experience; Would get mauled if forced to play ruck for the whole season True, but again, could be expected to do far better than Currie.

          Rix is your classic 'serviceable, not outstanding' #3 for the Saints; Agreed, but Saints supporters think he's a dud and Lyon obviously doesnt rate him either If he didn't rate him in any way at all, he would've been delisted. Saints have heaps of ruck depth anyway.

          and the Dogs have heaps of backup options as all of Street, Minson and Skipper have fairly substantial AFL ruck experience. Yes they do but none of them could hold a spot in a doggies side desparate for talls this year Sure, but all are good enough to be a #3.
          And I say there are only 4-5 sides in the league who are in the same boat; and it's not a happy boat; and not all of them may necessarily be in that boat come the end of November.

          Isn't this fun, everyone?
