I would not renew my membership of the Swans if they tried to recruit him. Not that I think for a moment that they would. Roos and co know better than to have his poison in our club. Some people on RWO need to read Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray.

The word from WA is that being a new law he has a very good case to answer and the police had no right nor warrant to search his car to the point where they lifted up seats etc etc, therefore why he sat there and refused to move... think of him as a normal citizen did this only happen cause he was B Cousins.
Please don't get me wrong what he and the WCE have done in the past is a joke but I had a gut feeling the police stuffed up here and there is now no way out ..

So Ben Cousins un-contracted basically and more importantly for him, has been tested and cleared and innocent...

And if he is to escape his addiction, leaving Perth is the best thing for him.

That's where really naivity sets in. Being a drug addicit is not like say, having a knee injury, where it will all get better in time. Its not easy for an addict to give up.


Bottom line, there is an election on, so everyone wants to put the boot in.

With all due respect but my peers can say to me stay out of trouble but if I get pulled over by police for having a valium tablet and the media turn up and make a meal of it, well is that my fault or the police and media for jumping to conclusions... It is innocent till proven guilty everywhere in this country, but it didn't apply here, why? cause the cops thought its a good way to get publicity on how they are coping with the drug problem, the media made a story out of it and.. its what I call a backfire for not getting your facts right.. WCE are in the same boat..
Just goes to show how the media can portray a story the facts were there yesterday $1000 bail and leave the country, why ? the judge said there was nothing in it, I didn;t even do my HSC and I know that means they are clutching at straws..

We all admit the the court system will be clutching ... he'll be slapped with a misdemeanour at the very most.

Unfortunately, the club (and AFL) said no controversy.

I mentioned somewhere else the conspiracy theories that are abouding in Perth. Some say that the crims wanted to get rid of him and masterminded the whole thing - the management "conveniently" all being o/s. They're having a field day.

The best he can do from here (if proven innocent) is sue for unfair dismissal. The best outcome of that is that they pay out his contract. He would not be reinstated.

Surely your not serious hammo,yes the Swans have done wonders for bad boys before but bringing Benny from the country town of Perth to the big smoke would IMO just make matters worse for him and our club.

I think the key would be to get him away from Perth and the crowd he mixes in over there. The anonimity in Sydney or Brisbane would far outweight the temptations IMO, especially if he's living with his father or Kirky!

If only it were that simple. The guy is addicted. And unless he comes to terms with that and commits himself to beating the addiction, he will be a lost soul. It isn't a matter of which city he resides. It isn't a matter of which football team he plays for. He requires a long rehabilitation process, and he has got to have the will to do it.

Having the incentive to do it (having finally received the wake-up call of having a contract terminated and realised his career could end if he doesn't take a chance offered him) and a focus in his life (all the people saying he came back too soon - trust me, he's much better off with a focus and purpose), would greatly aid that rehabilition process.

And you could very well be right, And hopefully you are. But for me to be convinced that Ben Cousins is heading on the right path (rather than hope), I think I need to hear or see evidence that he has accepted that he has an addiction / problem and is determined to allow professional people to help him back to a clean and healthy lifestyle. He's still in denial.
