Wiki, the AFL and all football leagues state that the formal name of our code and the preferred reference to our game is "Australian Football". That is simple fact. Don't shoot me.

How you or or I refer to the game is really irrelevant. The AFL itself markets the code as "AFL" in two states. I find this grammatically an abomination just like calling a game "league" or "association". So now, there are people that say the name of the game is "AFL" because of that marketing.

All I am saying that if you are contributing articles to an entity that purports to be some sort of encylopaedia then you should write formally, using the formal name "Australian Football" generally and not any colloquial names like "Australian Rules Football", "Aussie Rules", "Rules". "AFL" or "Aerial ping pong".
    It's quite a simple point.

        Sorry.... Pet hate
The formal name is Rugby League Football" shortened to Rugby League. "League" is not the formal name of the game and can cause confusion in mixed code company. Just because a huge number of people call it "League" doesn't make it the formal name of the code. The exception is "Assocation" football which became shortened to "soccer" and became a word in it's own right and we have soccer leagues and clubs, headed by the NSL, a soccer league. consisting of soccer clubs playing soccer persumably.

You are absolutely correct. To stop perpetuating this injustice, please proceed to our Wiki and correct all those entries that you think are wrong. Don't sit there on your high high horse telling us what to do, get off your arse and fix it. It is a Wiki. You are a member. Contribute if it means so much to you and fix it. Have you actually looked at "RWO Wiki" or are you just crapping on about Wikipaedia, which has nothing to do with this thread? If you haven't had a look at RWO Wiki and know what we are talking about, it may be better to refrain from posting further in this thread.

If I have your permission to correct entries as you suggest I will visit the site and make input.

Just for your information I have approached WIki and they were the opposite of helpful.

I apologise for jumping to jumping to that conclusion or any perceived slight.
I don't apologise for suggesting that the formal name of football should be used in preference to any colloquial name . I am really shocked with everyone's over-reaction here.

Haha lol everyone is "upset" because you are railing on about Wikipedia yet naming RWO Wiki, when your real issue is with Wikipedia! And if you have a problem with the RWO wiki, you should change it! There's no use complaining about it here when it's something you can change lol

                            .
Thus, why I asked. RWO Wiki has no relationship with wikipedia, except for the fact we use the same software. Mediawiki.
Our Wiki can only be maintained by registered users of RWO. Wikipedia can be updated by anyone, anywhere in the world.

Most of the stuff on the stories/history on the wiki were written by past members of RWO.
I can only find one reference to "Aussie rules" in an article back on 2003.
