    Is Hall finished?

I mentioned this in another thread.

    I certainly think he's finished.

Had an ordinary year at best in 2007. All summer I've read articles saying how he's had operations and how he will be a different player this year. I couldn't see anything last night to suggest that he will be any better than he was in 07.

If it wasn't for Kieran Jack hitting him on the tit 15 metres out straight in front then he wouldn't of kicked a goal last night. And he was playing on a bloke older than he is who hasn't played regular football since 2006.

Do you honestly believe Hall will be the bloke who takes us to another GF?

I think it's time he stepped aside and let someone else take the reigns.

No. He still has plenty to offer and I can see him being a major player in our next premiership tilt.

Yes. Is getting worse and is starting to become a liability at times.

The same could be said for Judd, given his performance on the weekend, given the standard that he has set for himself. However, I think it's to early to make a call either way until Hall(or Judd for that matter) has a bit more game time under his belt.

I think our premiership window is closed for the next few years. So no I don't think he will take us to a GF this year. But that won't be his fault alone.

Robbo, you made me crack up in the other thread & now Im pissing myself !!
Who will take over Hally right now ?
We wont be near a Grand Final while he is around anyway !
Also its just not on his back ,others need to deliver as well
Robbo , 1 week is a long time in footy mate.
Granted he didnt play that well last night, though his pre season form was pretty impressive . Hudgtons a fair footballer who has always done a fair job on Barry as well.
He still has plenty to offer.

Agreed, ask me again in another 3-4 weeks and we will have a much clearer picture of where Baz is at.

        I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Exactly what I was going to say. You can't write a guy off after the first match of the season. He was moving with much more freedom than he was last year. Last year he was slow, stiff, and lacked the agility that set him apart from other big men his size, as well as having trouble taking his marks. On the weekend, the only one of those problems I saw affecting him was the marking. This could be a lasting problem, a continuation of last year, or it could just be early-season rustiness. We can only wait and see.

He moved a lot more freely against the Saints than for most of last season. So fitness wise, he is fine.

He will take a few games to get into good touch.

The disposal also was very ordinary... if that improves I expect Hall will too. (less frustration for a start...)

I am convinced that a few fans on RWO actually indulge in swans losses to boost their so called online egos to come across as experts.

this thread is right up there.

FFS it's only round 1 and i think the answer to a very silly question should be the obvious:

It's not Barry Halls fault our delivery to him is a atrocious!

Seriously it's only round 1 and he has just recovered from a groin injury. Very restrictive and takes a while to over come. Just ask Chris Judd.

Can you do better? Seriously can you?

I guess your one of those Paul Roos critics who salivate when we loose so you can appease your online ego and just dump rubbish on him.

At the end of the day he owes us nothing and can just do the best he can. In the space of 2 years his gone from hero to villain. From gun player to a complete hack (never mind that a groin injury is very restrictive) who cant mark kick or do anything right. This is the same guy who kicked a beautiful 55 meter kick in pressure that got us back into the 2005 gf which we won.

Sheesh it's incredible some the amount of cynics on this site!

Ask again after round 6. To early to tell ATM.

Obviously Barry is not at the same standard but can still play a pivotal role with this year.

One chest mark where he led straight down the ground and the bounced of his chest was a bit concerning though.

As with the rest of the team, two young players were very encouraging 33 and 15 as we now have some pace, skill and particularly like Moore's determination

Mattner will settle shortly and with Tadgh finally the swans have another exit player as Leo has definitely lost his speed and should handball at all times to one of these two.

I can. I can coach better than Roos too. So I am allowed to say that they suck, and Hall sucked through 2007 and sucked on Sat night. He cannot mark, has lost a fair amount of pace, nd his kicking is down on past performances. Is he finished, probably not. Will he ever be the dominant forward in the comp again, not likely.

Thanks for your input Captain Obvious!

Why don't you point out also that he has had groin injury, he is now going onto his 32nd year and most forwards fade out around this time.

Have you ever had a groin injury? I have and its so painful and restrictive..just ask champions like Luke Ball and Chris Judd about it.

You are right. It's not his fault. Let's get Heath James back.
