Gee he looks good in the merchandising brochure. Did you see the pic of him looking for his lunch in his school bag. How could they drop a bloke who looks so good in the Swans gear. Such wonderful pics of him must really drag in the members and they managed to throw a couple of his action shots in also. What a legend, what a player: don't worry about the knockers, you're not playing badly, you're just not getting a touch.Comment

Compare the pair...
Nick Davis - 10 kicks, 4 handballs, 7 marks, 1 goal (out of the team's total of 6), 2 behinds, 1 tackle, 65 Dream Team points, 83 SuperCoach points.
Paul Bevan - 2 kicks, 3 handballs, 1 mark, 1 tackle. 19 Dream Team points, 27 SuperCoach points.
The selectors are idiots.I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adore

Half Forward's are the easist players in a team to replace. He has the negative of not being particularly fit, so many 1st 2nd 3rd year players are going to start their careers playing in his position, their fitness is probably as good if not better, or will quickly go past his level of fitness. More kms on the ground is more pressure on the opposition.
Good decision by RoosyYou don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby ZieglerComment

The reason that Davis made room for Barlow was not because Davis played poorly, but rather because Davis played well!
If you step back and take a look at the bigger picture, this early part of the season is more about getting the best squad on the field in the latter part of the season. How may times has Roos spoken about it being a long season and that he is not sure about how things will turn out. This part of the season is as much about information than winning any particular game.
In the broader sense of the season as a whole, the coaches need to know what the players are capable of, especially the young players. Surely Davis would seem better value than Bird or Grundy at this point, but few have suggested that any of the youngsters be dropped after one game. I am sure that Roos wanted to play Barlow last week, but thought it was just too many youngsters at once. So Barlow in makes sense in that context, and not dropping any of them makes sense too. The question is why Davis? Davis played like you would expect him to play. Kicked a good long goal, was close on a number of other long hauls, did well when he played up ground. Davis will be just fine. Nothing else to prove.
But there is a lot to prove for many of the Swans after last week's performance. Looking at last weeks team, Bevan would have been an alternative. But I feel if Bevan is dropped at this stage of the season, we will never see him again. Bevan is really fighting for his place and I think Roos is going to give him every chance to try to hold his place. Other than those mentioned, I would think the rest of team picks itself. End of story.Comment

I'm sorry, but I can't make any sense out of that, Ludwig. We're playing lesser players, because they need time to prove themselves, and this is at the expense of proven match-winners?
The only way this would make sense is if Sydney were giving up on finals already, and I doubt that's the case.Comment

Yep living off one game, Davis's career is pretty much over, will be first one gone. Tipped this a few days ago and it's obvious really

Good decision by RoosyCaptain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Bevo was switched onto Xav Clarke in the second quarter to stop the run off their half back line after Davo had completely failed to chase him down. Bevan did the job. However Davo is able to be exploited by defenders with pace of which Port have a basketful. We have a problem with Davo if he won't run up the ground. He didn't on Saturday night and pays the price.
He is arguably our worst player in the last 5 years.
He has not done a single thing I can remember that to any extent turned the fortunes of a game, unless it was in favour of the opposition.Last edited by JudesaGun; 28 March 2008, 10:30 PM.Sanford Wheeler 4 President!Comment

I don't believe Davis is injured, because you wouldn't out injured players on emergency list.
He did something that warranted to be dropped and only the club (and Davis probably) knows what that was. Maybe, we'll find out one day.
We'll see if the FW line is better with Bazza in and without Davis or the other way around.Comment
