Yeah, I think he was at times. And he wasn't at times as well. Shaun Burgoyne played a blinder, and I don't think it would have mattered who was playing on him. Bevan played on him at times, so did other players. It was just his dayOfficially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!Comment

As Ugg said.
Our disposal at times today was still poor. We too often missed targets still. However, our pressure was so good and Port fell away so badly that we were able to recover to collect the wayward disposals. Won't be so easy in other games so that's an area we still need to improve upon greatly.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Round 1 gave a fair inkling, and now round 2 has given a firmer hint: Heath Grundy has arrived as a footballer in 2008. He no longer looks one-dimensional and one-paced. He looks like he fits with the Swans' gameplan. And no, those two statements do not contradict each other.
Really hope and expect to see him go on with it.
The omission of Barlow in R1 was frustrating and mystifying: he provides a spark to a side that can become predictable to opposition coaches. Sydney is always more fun to watch with him in it.
Moore is a player. A real should-be-automatic selection, Buchanan-in-2005 breakthrough year player. He should play all 20-something remaining matches this year, injury permitting, and spend progressively less and less time on the bench. Jack isn't at that level yet, but give him a couple of years and he should be. No disrespect to Bird, who has shown enough to think that he'll get there eventually, but he's still a few years off. He only justifies a spot right now ahead of the likes of Laidlaw as a 'let him learn in the firsts rather than Canberra' experiment.
Bevan 2 goals, McVeigh 2, MOL and BBBH well and truly covering the specialist forwards' goalkicking quota: how will Nick get back in?
The other lesson from today, as others have already said: the Swans are a dry-weather, daytime team. Play all of our matches during the day in sunny 20-something degree temperatures, and you could put down your glasses for a top 4 berth. Today was a little like Groundhog Day from the round 22 clash v Hawthorn last year.
Unfortunately, TV and other issues mean that we have more than our share of night games.Last edited by SimonH; 30 March 2008, 10:37 PM.Comment

As well as we played today, top teams will NOT give us the leeway Port did. Brisbane & Brown next weekend will be a huge huge test up there.
Still it is nice to know we have a footy team who can be fun to watch, for a change.

We are a dry-weather day time SCG team. Other teams get lost on the wide wings there. We deliberately use the width & lots of short handballs to get the ball out of defence. Good well-drilled teams know this & know to attack players who more often than not will opt to play on (eg Leo Barry). Port did not even try to do this, which is to me indicative of the tactical naivety in Mark Williams' coaching.

No it was Kieran Jack on S Burgoyne in the second half until he was concussed at the 18 minute mark of the last quarter and taken off. Bevo played on Peter Burgoyne in the first quarter and nailed him with a termendous tackle. Bevo played on mainly Pearce and Boake in the second half.Bevo bandwagon driverComment

Negative comments
I have made several posts in the past that were quite critical with the performance of some of our players, but after yesterday, I was pleasantly suprised and we may push for a top 4 spot.
My highlights yesterday were:
McVeigh's best game for his career (IMO).
Bevan is better up forward (he did spent a little bit of time down back yesterday and again made a wrong decision when under pressure, which resulted in a PA goal).
Moore, Jack and Bird again showed very good signs.
Grundy OK - beat Westhoff. I am concerned about his lack of pace.
Hall back to his best.
LRT's disposal is getting there.
The boy from Bega - the big cheese - I love it.
I will leave it that for now.Comment

Leo Barry did an excellent job on Ebert - where was he?"In some ways we?re less predictable to ourselves and sometimes that can be detrimental because we don?t really know where we?re going" - P.RoosComment

It was Ebert and Peter B that we made note that two of their game-winners just weren't seeing any of the action.
That being said because of the job that Leo, Bevo and Marty did it allowed them to push up on the forward line in the end which resulted in the two formers to kicks goals.Comment
