You make some good points, bloodboy, but he actually is still eligible. What's his previous form like against the Lions? I wonder if it's make much of a difference if he didn't play.

      Last year - rd 20, 28 disp, 2 B votes. Rd 3 17 possessions.

      In 2006, rd 21, 24 disp, 1 goal, 3 B votes. Rd 6, 28 disp, 2 goals, 3 B votes.

Just okay in 2005 (16 disp; 13 disp 2 goals)

          Yep! When he wants to!

I wonder if the opposition coaches have done a lot of work over summer on countering Goodes though. He's had two very effective tags so far.

I think he'll have to get used to it and not retaliate every time somebody is getting "too close" to him. A week on the sidelines should teach him a lesson.

It was good to see him get a few possessions, but many of them came when the contest was over.

                  Geez.

There's an enormous amount of pressure put on Goodesy. Dead-set, as far as the Sydney media are concerned, Goodesy is the only captain. Prior to the season starting, there was one article about Davo, one article about B2 being made captain, and about 20 articles on Goodesy this, Goodesy that. In a way, I'm glad they never made him the stand-alone captain now (and trust me, it hurts to admit it). He needs more time.

I think he and the club should fight it.

He should be allowed to keep playing his consecutive games.

At least he'll still be in contention for the brownlow. (That is, if he can keep his elbows to himself for the rest of the season.)
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

There should be a lot of pressure on Goodes, he's our best player and arguably our only "elite" player, though Eski, Bolton and Kennelly are pretty damn close! All champion players are under pressure, every week, and Goodes also needs to learn how to deal with a tag, otherwise he'll be on report more often than we'd like.

                      Of course you're right.
Hopefully he'll get whatever is up his butt out earlier this year than he did last year.

I hope so, too. I think it was round 8 when he finally woke up? It's already coming up to round 3, so I'm expecting a turn around by round 4-5 at the latest.

Goodes should be good enough to beat a tag. If he's getting frustrated, maybe Roos should move him to full forward or into the ruck every now and then.

I said it in another thread ... he should have been put into the ruck last sunday when Jolly went into the rooms. LRT was ok, but Goodesy would have been better.

It's a bull@@@@ idiotic charge made by bull@@@@ idiotic people. The next time, this happens, the charge would be thrown out, especially if it's a Collingwood player and even if he has a record.
