Having just seen the incident, Goodes does make contact with the head after the PA player hangs onto him way too long. But if the guy had been standing on his feet rather than fllaing down, Goodes would've hit him in the chest at worst.
Goodes cleared (previously Goodes suspended !!!!!!! but still eligble for Brownlow)

Brownlow still on the cards for Goodes
Brownlow still on the cards for Goodes
Even a one-match ban won't affect Swan's eligibility for the big awardComment

Let me say this, after reading the crapfest on Bigfooty, saying that Goodes is a dirty player and has history of such offence, I am glad, I have my own forum, and on here.
That site is the worse site in history, and they did me a favour banning me, I would have been ripping into those filthy trolls who have no @@@@ing idea! I hate that site with a passion, with some of the garbage that is being said.
This is why I avoid BF when Sydney are in the news for the wrong reasons. Some people think that's weak, and that I'm only around for the good times, but I refuse to read post after post of idiots dragging one of our stars through the mud.
Goodes is an extremely fair player, and sometimes even gentle. He's won the best and FAIREST award twice, so I'd hardly consider him a thug, especially when it was clearly unintentional. The scum at BF will jump on him when even the slightest opportunity arises.Comment

There is clearly no intent. Recklessness (high level of negligence) can hardly apply as Goodsey could not have reasonably been expected to have anticipated that the scragger had fallen to his knees. We should send lawyers, guns and money. Of course if Goodsey is suspended it is reasonable to expect Davo to be brought back with Cheese going into the middle. Goodsey does the time and Davo gets a second chance.Bevo bandwagon driverComment

Based on the evidence on the video I can't see how we could get the charge downgraded and based on previous cases we can't really argue that "how was he to know his head was there" as the tribunal has established a duty of care to these types of incidents.
Nothing to lose by taking it to the tribunal. but I reckon Goodes has run out of luck on this one.

I just watched it again in slowmo and the Port player was not on his knees. He had his head down, but was on his feet when the elbow hit him in the head.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

To honest, a week on the sidelines will be good for Goodesy. Give him time to get his thumb out of his rear. I don't think he needs this whole 'consecutive games' thing hanging over his head. I reckon he will play better knowing he can't win the brownlow too. Whilst I would never want to wish away one of our players winning the brownlow, I think this will be good for the team. Give Goodesy time to get his head right and hopefully start playing some better footy.
In saying all this, I haven't seen the footage so i don't really know. But Cam Howat from the Tiges got 3 weeks for an off the ball incident last week and you could see pretty much NOTHING on the footage...couldn't believe he was even suspended...Go you mighty BLOODBOYS!Comment
