Interesting that he gets named before some other established players on the main list and promoted before the likes of O'Dwyer.

Well done to Smith! Good mover with silky skills. Very slight though.

Hmm...no Jesse White as an emergency with the injury cloud over Jolly? You'd think it would be a good time to give him a game before Spida returns...(but then I was one of those who didn't think Davo should've been dropped, so what do I know? )

Goodes vs Black - looking forward to that one.
Captain, I am detecting large quantities of win in this sector

It probably means that there is no injury cloud.

I'd say Copeland will get Goodes. (unless he is coming back from injury?)

New guy Nick Smith, named as an emergency, interesting:

His nickname should be default, because of how hard it is to find any player other than him when searching on the Sydney Swans official website.

Fair enough on O'Dwyer, but honestly, what other players? Besides White, and Davis they are all injured or new!

Brabazon is probably the other - and the one most in direct competition with Smith.

But from what I've seen, I am not surprised. There isn't much of Smith (though he's not as skinny as last year) but what there is is tough and classy. He was the best through the midfield last week, IMHO, in a scrappy game.

And come to think of it, why would you play your main ball winner (Black) on Goodes, who could potentially shut him down.

Great to see. Davis unlucky but hard to see anyone who should miss out (Captain Bevan-obvious aside).

And I have a feeling this will be Bird's break out game.

Who do we need to shut out? Who are the dangermen?

Brown, Power and Johnstone are the biggest concerns in my book.

Hall has the potential for another big game on Merrett. O'Loughlin and Kennelly also tend to play well against the Lions.

I reckon we also need to keep an eye on Black. Seems to rack up pretty big numbers doesnt he?

Is that Nick Smith's first time to get his name on the Emergency list? Good on him.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Does this mean, he got promoted onto the senior list? That's good news for him, if that's the case.
