They SHOULDN'T be harsher on him, but that doesn't mean they won't. If they, for example, suspended him for 6 weeks, and he was injured anyway for 4, then in a way, the suspension is really only 2 weeks, because he would have sat out the first 4 weeks anyway.

As for the press conference, they said it was Hall's idea.
          I doubt that.
The idea came about to show some remorse and possibly avoid being absolutely slammed for a 12 week holiday.
If that was Halls ised and intention, then good on him, but I suspect it was someone else's isea and as part of the idea was to say that it was Hall's idea.

Sure it was Hally's idea! The fact that he sent a 'sorry' text with his broken wrist shows how contrite he is.

He's got the Denton interview lined up later this week and next Saturday is National Apology to Staker Day where Barry will personally apologize to Staker, Staker's family, West Coast, West Australia, the AFL, sponsors, etc.

i am glad he has apologised no matter whose idea it was......however he can't just leave a message on the guys phone and wait for a callback. he needs to call him back and apologise to him or else it is a copout

I don't understand what you are saying, the press confrence will have absolutely no bearing on what either the match review panel or tribunal give him as they have pre determined penalties they must follow.

I would suggest that Hall genuinely felt bad about what he has done and wanted to let everyone know that he would cop whatever came his way for it.

                Simple as that.

Tricky one, who's to say that Staker didn't want to take the call and let it go to message bank.

Pre determined penalties will not apply if the Match Review Committee refer it directly to the Tribunal.

So any remorse will be helpful.

I bet we don't see the cameras in the Swans shed at half time anytime in the near future

The press conference was just shown on Fox Sports News. From previous posts it sounded like Barry was just going through the motions of an apology but seeing him saying it, he did seem genuine. He wasn't over emotional in it, but he said it was very ordinary, he had no excuse and as he inappropriately put it, he will "cop it on the chin" whatever the tribunal decide. No ifs or buts he'll take the punishment. The current specuation is 10 to 12 weeks.

The media would've slammed Hall if he didn't hold a press conference, considering they ran the incident as headline news.
