In defence of the Stakers, it looks like they were approached for a comment and gave the predictable dog-bites-man answer. I don't see why Bazza's mum wasn't asked for her equally predictable views.

As suggested earlier, it would be only fair to allow her and Mrs Staker settle it between themselves, "mano a mano".

God I hate living in WA. The more I hear Mrs Staker's voice and see this story as the opening story each night, I realise how pathetic and small this state really is. Fair dinkum I'm surrounded by powder puffs

I even felt embarrassed for Staker as he was trying to get into his car and the media were asking him if he's going to take legal action. He must feel like the biggest mummy's boy ever at the moment.

I had the same thought --- but 'mano' is Spanish for 'hand' (thanks Wikipedia).

I bet the Spanish papers are full of stories about "El Baz" laying out an Aguilera with a single mano.

Completely agree. Channel Seven are an absolute disgrace.

Ah, the free hit rule. One of my favourite RWO threads ever

I think Barry used up his free punch against Maguire in 2005! Was worth it, though

It was actually Ten, but who can tell the difference anyway.

Hmmm the AFL could take note of this, don't worry about a tribunal just let the victims' mother/brother/father/niece etc give a suspension.

Its interesting that Barry might probably prefer to be charged with assault and battery than be dealt with by the sporting association rules. I reckon a single punch and minimal damage, an early guilty plea with subjective and objective mitigation he could get a Section 10, if he has no previous or at most a $1,000.00 fine. Yep throw the book at him.

Sorry, but this has now officially become a joke.

He laid in a left-hander (and an extremely good one at that).

He'll get six to eight weeks MAXIMUM. No jail time. No criminal charges.

His broken wrist will take EIGHT to TWELVE weeks to mend fully.

Seeing's he was already looking down the barrel of eight weeks before he broke his wrist - it's a pity he didn't lay into a few more of them.

                                Ah the value of hindsight.

Oh ... again ... Mrs Staker - pull your head in.
                                How embarassing for your son.
                                Sooky la-la mummy's boy.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
