Were you at the game connolly or did you watch it on television?I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

In terms of clearances per game Davis was ahead of Schmidt, Mathews, O'Keefe, Kennelly, Malceski, C Bolton, Bevan, Dempster, O'Loughlin, and others.
In terms of contested marks per game Davis was ahead of Barry, J Bolton, Ablett, Kennelly, Schneider, Malceski, Bevan, Dempster, Kirk, Buchanan, McVeigh, Mathews, Fosdike, and others, and equal with C Bolton.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

You miss the point. His career ratio is one to three. Bevan's is two to one. So why do you reckon why an experienced small was not thrown into the cauldron to help the tiring young mids in the last quarter? (Its rhetorical so heres the answer) Because Davis is too slow, unfit and lacks the ticker to mix it in the midfield. He was a passenger on Saturday in a team of goers. He had the opportunity to make an impact, stand up when we needed it. He didn't and thats all there is folks.Bevo bandwagon driverComment

Looking at last year's stats, as a ratio of CP to total possessions, Davis was ahead of Ablett, Schmidt, Schneider, Kennelly, Buchanan, McVeigh, Dempster, C Bolton, Barry, Bevan, Mathews, Fosdike, Malceski and others.

You didn't comment on his higher contested possession ratio or clearances than all those other players.
Who is he behind in contested marks? No one under 190cm.
Of the 25 players with >6 games for last year, Davis is equal 9th in contested marks, behind Hall, Everitt, Goodes, O'Keefe, Jolly, O'Loughlin, Richards, Grundy, LRT. (He's 7th this year).Last edited by NMWBloods; 21 April 2008, 04:14 PM.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

It is a bit harsh to blame a loss to the current premiers at their home ground on a player returning for his first game of senior footy. Near as i can tell Davis did enough to be picked again and was far from the worst player on the field. There were other fwd's in the team that failed to score a goal at all.Comment
