I'm pretty sure we can't lose our 2 points though. So I'm not really fussed.

Bad mistake by us, but hats of to the North Melbourne football club for there reaction to it, its nice to see a mature response to what is clearly an accidental mistake.

Just waiting to see what the AFL does now, another bullet in there gun they have constantly aimed at the Swans

Swans can't lose their points. The rule is that the Kangaroos' captain had to call for the count at the time when the Swans had 19 on the field - had that happened, the Swans' score would have been reset to 0.0 (0).

I'm pretty sure they can, actually. The AFL does have the power to change the result of matches. And honestly, I'm all for it. We made a @@@@ up that almost certainly influenced the course of the match. We deserve to lose the two points, and the Roos deserve to gain them.

Just a point of interest, however, couldn't it be argued that it was WHITE who was the extra man, and he came on early? Therefore, the extra man didn't have a role in the play.... Just being the Devil's advocate here though, I still think the result should be changed.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

The AFL wouldn't dare change the result of the game where the winning score was denied by a goal umpire.

In any case, they're not being pressed by North Melbourne to reverse the result, so it won't happen. Most likely - almost certainly IMHO - a fine.

The only time I can ever recall the result of a game being reversed was the Freo (vs Hawks?) game in Launceston where the umpire didn't hear the siren.
The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible news

No we don't. There's no way to prove the Kangaroos would have won had we not had 19 men on the field at one point.

It's not even the first time it's happened this season. Port had 19 men on the field in a game a few weeks back (not to mention - reportedly - numerous times during the practice match they played against us at Telstra).

Hawthorn admitted to it during the NAB cup as well. Copped a $7500 fine.

Just trying to even things up, after all North had 21 players for most of the game.

The AFL won't want the embarrassment of losing to their own black and white rules in the high court.
The rules clearly state the matter has to brought up for a player court during the match. (by the captain)

Can only happen if the opposition coach calls for a count on the day
You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby Ziegler

I always thought the interchange steward was meant to keep an eye on that (you know, one player off, one player on). If not, why bother having another AFL official there?
