He is still only a kid.We place such high expectations on young guys now that it's hard for them to live up to them.
Kelly was a fearless into packs head first player when he started , but lacked the skill to do anything with the footy for a while..Roos as a teenager with the Roys did bugger all his first few games but fly for speccies..most tall ruckmen are useless plodders for quite a while .
Give him time..he has class written all over him. He is an exception these days, a footballer learning to be an athlete rather than the opposite. And I know which I prefer!

He hasn't got used to the speed of the game yet, constantly gets caught taking to long. Not entirely sure about him atm but we will see how he develops.

Last month has been good. Well and truly in our best 22 at the moment, given who we've got available.

Would like to see evidence of that, is constantly getting the ball in pack situations and dishing out handballs, dont know what games you've been watching
The edge is not the limit, It's just the starting point...

You're about three months behind the times with that comment. He left that habit behind ages ago. He is very much used to the speed of the game now. I can't remember the last time he was caught holding the ball.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

I have a feeling that Paul Bevan's career path may follow the same trajectory, albeit without reaching the same dizzy heights.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

Geeze guys! How many players actually became superstars in their first year! Roos? Dunks? Kell? Goodsey? Mickey? Jude? Davo? Kirky? No. They showed potential, and they worked their butts off. And that's what Birdy will do. He's a good kid. He will be just fine.

I hope Meredith becomes a fine player, but to say "he is meant to be as good as Vezspremi if not a little better" is very optimistic and based on absolutely no evidence. If that were the case, why was he our second round pick, not our first. It's not as if he's had the chance to be able to show even early signs of his potential this year, thanks to his shoulder injuries.

Legs duck. I was savaged for a whimsical musing that the kid was the next Stewie Maxfield.

Not only talent, he has CLASS.

Would probably be on a Craig Bird streak if it wasn't for his knee.

Yep I've been on the Thornton bandwagon for a while now. He'll be awesome in 2009, injuries pending.
