Are you for real,what Goodes did was nothing like what Hall did at all.

Hall deservered to go,Goodsey doesnt even tho he hass treadng a fine line.There was nothing in it at all.

It seems as if Eddie has been in the AFL's ear about this one.

If anything, those who bagged Hall should be way more severe on Goodes.
Goodes has had numerous instances of 'warning' that this kind of thing in not on as far as the AFL is concerned.
Hall's hit was spur of the mo moment.
goodes has hed weeks to rectify his action that seems to be infringing the rules.

So Goodes, knowing that the AFL are dark on what he is doing, continued to blatantly do it!!!!

In the end, they will BOTH have been suspended.
Both have acted recklessly, and both should have known better.
An infringement is an infringement.

Seems there is a line to cross here regarding suspension.
7 weeks is the worst thing ever a player has done to a club.

Personally I didn't slam Hall when he was suspended and I won't slam Goodes.
What I will say is that what Goodes did didn't even deserve to be looked at.

As I said elsewhere...I'd risk challenging it, and the possibility of copping a 2 match suspension. I think that we'll struggle against the Pies anyway, so no loss; they have the wood on us, so Im not expecting us to win that one. As for the Dorks, I think we will stack up well without him...seems we beat them pretty comfortable last time We wont miss Goodsie. Maybe a couple of weeks watching from the grandstand will get him to moderate how he plays...go for the ball, not the player...

I disagree. Cop the week and move on. Collingwood are ripe for the taking, and if we don't beat them this time, I doubt we will later in the year.

We can comfortably move O'Keefe into Goodes role if need be.

I am pretty confident this time against the Magpies. We are definitely have a better mix this year.

Seems silly for the MRP to offer him a week just because he's been "negligent" before. There goes the theory that each incident is looked at seperately.

I tend to agree. This is the MRP going over the top. This was not even a featured incident at the time, nor after the game. Was it a free kick?

Goodes is a player that likes to keeps his feet, the ball was at hip level and he was doing nothing more than looking to hit the ball at speed, not Bartram. Bartram throws his head at the oncoming Goodes and player Goodes gets levelled with negligence.

If Bartram threw himself in front of an oncoming car in civilian life, a coroner would dismiss all changes of negligence against the driver.

This one is worth challenging.

Take the week. It'll do him a world of good - his attitude needs a bit of a shake up, and it will stop some of the whingers who say he doesn't get his due punishment.

I reckon we have a better chance of beating the Hawks, than we do beating Collingwood.

The Hawks like to play uncontested footy, and as a result are last in the league for hard ball gets (last time I checked).

They won't be allowed to get away with that against the Swans, which will put pressure on the ball carrier. This will ensure their kicks inside 50 are not as clean for Buddy and Roughhead.

Collingwood however, play a similar game to us. They have a little bit more pace and flair though, which has caught us napping a couple of times.

I thought it was stupid stupid stupid when he did it and am not really suprised he's got a week for it. Be silly to challenge it, because even though we would lose him for the Pies game at least we would have him back for the Hawks. Not having him for 2 weeks straight really could derail our season.

Id prefer to see him take the week, hopefully learn from it and have us in the knowledge he will be back come what could be a critical game against the Hawks. Its all nice and well to say oh well we'll probably lose against the Dorks and probably against Collingwood too, but we cant afford to lose both if we want to make the 4, and Id prefer we were at close to full strength for one of them then to take the risk at the tribunal- you might get it downgraded but with carryover points I doubt you would get it downgraded enough to get off with only another reprimand.

For him to be able to play, he would have to have the charge thrown out completely as a downgrade to be a reprimand only on this charge would still leave him over 100pts due to the carryover from the Selwood incident.

This is really bad luck - the Collingwood game is the beginning of the business end of the season. I scrounged up a view of the game (without sound thank goodness) at some pub as I was travelling up north. I could'nt believe may eyes when I saw the bump - it was like a mirror image of the previous week only softer. Goodesy (arguably our most important player) should learn to stay away from hip & shoulders - his own shoulders look petty bad, always taped up. He should stick to tackling. Did'nt he accumulate most of his points from shouldering someone in the back last year... it's such a murky area these days, even Mattner got a free paid against him for his "immortal hip & shoulder"... Positives??? May he never do it again and we only lose him for a week.
