Maybe that was the what Ireland was talking to him about.
The upside is that Bevo could be let off the chain. It is doubtful that Ireland was talking to Lance Thompson about the intricacies of the defensive requirments of small forwards in the AFL. The meeting was most probably a nice quiet chat away from the office about a contract variation such as TRADE.

I can't believe that anyone here would think that Goodes deserved a week for that innocuous bump. It's a media beat up and even Swans supporters have been conned by it. I think it's outrageous that the AFL now imposes penalties under media and Internet pressure. The system is a total farce.

I don't and he didn't get a week for that bump either, under the system.

It was the 93.75 carry over points that got him the week.

No use blaming the media or internet forums for what happended.

Under the current rules slight contact to the head while bumping is worth 125 points.

I don't agree with it, but that is the current rules that the AFL has set regarding head high contact.

I can picture the AFL's latest move: all players are required to wear Stackhats with their number and team colour painted on.
I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adore

I think you'll find most don't think the action deserves a week, (or 2 as was given, 1 was accepted due to early plea), but in the current climate of head high contact, it was bound to happen. Most of the head high's charged this year have been fairly soft. But they are cracking down on it, so we have to abide by their current policies.

Goodes has had too many close calls in the last 2 years and if the citing against WC wasn't a wake up call to change his act, then he deserves the week for not altering his style to suit the MRP's guidelines.
