Have the week off (which in turn means two weeks with the bye). Will do him the world of good. Collingwood has a few out as well so it kind of evens up in the end. We are a better chance to beat Collingwood without goodes then we are to risk not having him for the harder game of Hawthorn.

If he takes the week, I think we can win both games.

Not worth a week and he didn't get one either for this offence, but the carry over points were always going to take their toll at some point.

Take the week off and Roosey can flog him on the track for punishment, ready for a return at full pace against the Hawks.

As most others have said, the best possible result is him missing a week - hopefully he learns something from it (doutb it though).

You can hardly be considered unlucky when you push your luck for the 4th time in a year.

They've all been bull@@@@ soft incidents - all the more reason for him to not even bother. Either lay a tackle or pull out completely.

I think "he likes to hold his feet" is a bit generous - unless he is in prime position to tackle he almost takes evasive action to avoid doing so, looking to glance off an opponent. I don't actually have a problem with that - we have enough tough nuts to to the hard work, but what he is doing is negligent in its own way and something he needs to fix.

Should appeal...should get off! Week after week he rips thru packs, comes out with the ball and is a hero! The way this game is going, an inch either way and a suspension??? Nonsense~!

I haven't seen a slo mo replay but in real time I thougt he just tried to protect himself as 3 players converged and he was about to be sandwiched.

Just frame by framed through the footage. (I love my MythTV :-)

Ruck contest, both ruckmen miss the tap, ball bounces once in space,

Bartram comes from one side, is arms out to cover the bounce of the ball,

His team mate Chris Johnson (17) comes from the other side...

Goodes goes through the middle, eyes for the ball

              All players anticipating the bounce...

Ball bounces on its point back towards Bartram, whose arms go down to smother, head starts back..

Goodes, at the unfavourable bounce braces for impact from both sides, he's about to be sandwiched... tries to take the impact on Bartram's shoulder, glances off and hits Bartram's head.

Johnson jumps to go shoulder to shoulder with Goodes, misses and goes on to collect Bartram who has now turned around.

If he tries to get off at the tribunal I think he'll say..
I had eyes for the ball, I took steps to avoid high contact but was victim of an unlucky bounce.

for a couple of years goodes has chosen to bump rather than tackle and it has cost us on occasion in games, the free to selwood being an obvious one, but there have been a number of other occasions.

having said that it will take a little longer to change his game. when you have adopted a particular style for an extended period your instinctive reactions will kick in first and he will need training into a new style

i actually hope that goodes changes because he is simply one of the players in our side who can go and get the ball as opposed to stop their opponent from getting it...

Checking the video I see that Johnson had a gun and took a shot at Goodes who had to duck out of the way into the path of Bartram who was drawing a lead pipe from his back pocket and Goodes had to quickly take him out with a bump to the head to protect himself. Totally a case of self defence and I expect him to get off on this basis.

Kinda sick that a few "Sydney supporters" seem to be quite happy about this.

I said a few seem to be happy about it, that's as far as my mind reading abilities will take me. If you read through the thread it's quite obvious.

I get the impression that many are annoyed with his action but are looking on the bright side that a week off may be good so he can get it out of his game so he will not do it again during the critical part of the season.
