Good on Roos for those comments.

I agree. The Carlton CEO's comments were completely inappropriate to state in public.

Is not really the point is it. Some of the better players at our club get a decent amount of cash, def nothing worth sneezing at. The point is still the same that im sure they would have a clause in their contracts saying they are not to neg with other clubs without permission until their current contract is up, but as i said proving it is another matter.

Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

I am pleased to see the club publicly sticking up fir Davis, I thought the comments were inappropriate and definitely a nasty thing to say, it's not as if he was riding around with criminals in cars shooting or anything.

I guess Nick turned up for training today!
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

The club is leaving it as is because they will want to get something for him,so if they piss him off now his value will be going further down the shute.
Greg Swanns big mouth didn't help
My understanding is that the best way to drive up the value of a player for trade week is to have everyone believe they are coming off a season ending knee injury.

And so the saga takes another twist...

BTW, I reckon Roos' original comments about Davis missing training were very ambiguous and the fact that he later clarified his statement clouds the issue even further. Sounds like the media has beaten it up somewhat.

He was dropped for lack of committment wasn't he? He'll be booted for the same reason.
Didn't the Swans "tap up" Spida Everitt post-2005 and most likely during 2006. Hawthorn had some pretty strong views on the Swans' contacting one of their contracted players as I recall.

Pleased to see Roos step in that way, whatever issues he has with Nicky D.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Of course it makes a difference. It is their livelihoods. You are saying that a player playing finals cannot start talking to someone basically until the pre-season?

Roos has published a clarification, and an apology to Carlton. Apparently he thought Swann was talking about Nic Fosdike.

If Swann really didn't like Davis why was he and the rest of Collingwood so keen to keep him in 2002 and so annoyed when he wanted to leave?

Swann needs to learn when to keep his mouth shut. I'm guessing he doesn't know Davis very well and has no right to make a judgment on what type of person Nick is.

The fact he's a CEO makes it a thousand times worse.

You guess he doesn't know him. Then proceed to stick the boot in because you guess he doesn't know what he's talking about.
