Staker was doing what most defenders do - annoying his opponent, grabbing at him, and seeing what he can get away with. Every defender does it, including (especially) ours. They just don't expect their opponent to punch them in the face.

Just as Ling didn't ask to be elbowed in the face, Staker didn't ask to be felled by a left hook. The niggling of opposing players happens a hundred times a match and rarely end up in a bloke being belted.

Both incidents are equally as bad as each other.

What did he expect Barry to do, just stand there while he was all over him like a cheap suit.
Of course Barry is going to try and break the hold in some way, so could expect some form of retaliation.

Retaliation such as a forceful shove not a full-blooded punch to the face.
