I am very pleased for MattyO but I'll be a little irritated if he comes in at the expense of Smith. There's no point bringing any of these fringe guys in if they're only going to get one game and then get dropped for two months.

I was pretty impressed with MOD earlier in the season at a reserves match. Gonna be interesting to see if my judgement is worth anything. He DID look good tho!

Liz, doesn't the fact that he's listed in the 22 mean he is playing?

          I completely agree.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Smith hasn't been named in the 22, he's been named in the 26 man squad on the 'yet to be trimmed', extended bench.

The point Liz was making is that Smith is listed on the bench, if he is dropped after one match (as he was earlier in the season, and Laidlaw last season), it would have been more beneficial to retain them in the team.

He's in the 18 so he'll be playing.

Edit: Apologies Chookbilly - for some reason I thought you meant O'Dwyer

                    For the sake of clarity:

MOD is named in the run on side...so is definately in.
Smith is named on an extended bench, so may be cut or may survive.

                    Pretty simple.

What Liz is saying and I agree, is that she will be disappointed if Smith does get the chop. It's not a knock on MOD or anything, it has nothing do with MOD, we hope that Smith gets another chance. The fact that MOD has been promoted is irrelevant to the discussion, there is room for both.

If he is named in the starting 18, doesn't he have to play unless injured?

As about 3 people have mentioned, he is definitely in, having been named in the 18 (as opposed to the ended interchange)
