    GAME OVER

    Adelaide 11.11 77
    Sydney 6.17 53

An ordinary, disgraceful performance by the Swans. Poor kicking for goal (6 goals from 23 scoring shots) and turnovers from the backline cost us dearly. Won more of the ball, the hitouts and went into the forward 50 more often but to little effect.

ROK was clearly the best Swan on ground with 35 disposals (26 kicks and 9 handballs), 8 marks, 3 tackles and 5 free kicks for, but he had a less-attacking game.

B1, Grundy, Jolly, Kennelly, Kirk, Mattner, McVeigh, Moore and Richards played well although McHack kicked 4 behinds.

Bevan, Goodes, Hall, Jack, Mathews, MOD and LRT were ordinary at best and were well beaten. I wouldn't be surprised if Goodes doesn't play due to injury and Playfair will miss due to a hammy. Given injuries, I think Mathews will play next week (unfortunately) and that goal after the final siren may have cemented his spot for at least another week.

Luffy was right to give his worst on ground votes to Bevan (1 vote), Goodes (2 votes) and Hall (3 votes).

The Swans need a lot of soul searching to do after that woeful performance, coming up against the Western Bulldogs at Manuka where they'll probably play like they did when they towelled the Swans up earlier this year at the SCG. I expect several key changes to the lineup and goal kicking must be a priority for the Swans if there's ever a chance to knock off the 2nd best team this year.

The only positive is that we're still 4th on the ladder, 6 points clear of Collingwood, Adelaide, Brisbane and St. Kilda (4 points of North Melbourne if they win). A few threads on BigFooty have suggested teams are tanking to avoid a qualifying final against Geelong.
I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adore

Crows always play their best against Swans.
Can we please play Crows at AAMI next year? A win there would be sweet.

Swans bombed it inside 50 all night, hit very few chests. Sadly missed Magic and unfortunately BBBH was soft. Also missed a small roving forward given the scatter gun delivery inside 50.

Anyone else think Grundy was Ok tonight?

Not 100% sure who he was on - hard to tell on TV - but I thought he competed 1 on 1 pretty well.

In some ways I think it was the best game I've seen him play. Maybe 1 bright spot in a crappy night.

Grundy should be above LRT in the pecking order now IMO.

Has footy smarts and can play back or forward.

He's turning into a handy player.

            Gutted tonight.
Simply terrible and we are a long way from it at present time.
At the moment on form, cannot see us winning another game except maybe the Freo game. Right now making up numbers.

I thought Grundy was ok but I thought it was a terrible game of footy and we were disgraceful. What I want to know is why when it became blatantly obviously by about 1/2 through the 2nd quarter that we were going to struggle to take marks in the 50 didnt we look to play on a bit more and take some pot shots from the 50. That was insipid play all over. Plenty of players tried hard but we didnt present well enough, didnt run hard enough and most importantly didnt try anything different to counter Adelaide's ultra negative tactics (But credit must be given to them for taking their chances when they got them).

I just knew it wouldnt be our night though when Mattner's goal was called touched! @@@@ me no matter how many times you look at it on replay commentators, it wasnt touched nor did it hit the post it was simply a goal!

Jeez I thought it was obvious long before then!

We are so slow at moving the ball forward, it was very easy for Adelaide to flood back constantly.

Bob, they bombed it to the pocket. If they bombed it to the top of the square the smalls would have some room to move in.

By the way slaughtered out of the centre again most of the night. They got a couple of easy goals in the last q from non existent centre bounce contesting.

2005 I can see your disappointment and I kind of feel the same but I knew it would be a dog @@@@ of a game tonight against Adelaide. Always is as they are even more one dimensional (Far more effective tonight!) then we are and it is always a bad match.

Next week will give us a proper barometer of any chances we might have. Bounce back and put in a good performance (really need to win but Id be happy with a good performance) and we might have one last kick in us for the year but another poor one and its looking downhill even if we do stumble into the eight.

One last observation- how much did we miss Micky O? At least when he plays we have one reliable target up forward that will take most of the marks he should.

And all over the ground we played metres off our man which made it easy for them to spot up a player with a 30 metre kick. Exactly what Collingwood do to us.

I think I will jump off the LRT wagon, he was awful.

We can't be expected win with his horrible effort, Everitt at snails pace, Goodes (what in the hell was he doing in the team, made him look foolish) and that imposter Mathews. If ever there was a bloke picked to get towards a milestone he was it. No matter how well he has supposedly been playing in the 2's he clearly has lost it by a long way at this level.

To play Mathews was an insult to the younger players at the club. Surely Brennan was a better option or White. I'd love someone to mount a case for Mathews being picked because of matchups.
Absolutely agree. Roosy needs to have a good hard look at himself in the mirror after giving Benny another game. He picked him for all the wrong reasons. We can't have a coach who has two seperate agendas.

MOL really makes Hall look fairly ordinary.

However did you notice in the 1st qtr that whoever was rucking was nudging the ball backwards, and it worked OK for a while.

Backwards from where? Must have been a bloody short time. By kicking to the pocket you play right into Adelaides hands. The ball goes out or it's a ball up with all their players back. Sides beat Adelaide by quick, direct movement into the forward line. Any chance we might wake up to that this century.
