We were to slow every where tonight and our decision making was @@@@.
Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

What a horrible match to witness. The night we could have almost wrapped up 4th spot and we prove ourselves more worthy of the bottom 4.

Disappointing night, to say the very least.

Disgraceful performance. How on earth are we sitting in 4th on the ladder. Watching Essendon this afternoon - they're a better side than Sydney yet are outside the 8.

Goodes is lame. Why was he even playing? If ever there was proof that the player group has too much power over selections then he is it. There is no way the coaches should have allowed him to play.

I thought Richards was awful tonight. Totally ungunned by Porpeisla.

And LRT is a fair dinkum clown. AFL football is out of his league I'm afraid, he's got no idea.

Apart from ROK, Jude, Jolly and Moore it is hard to say anything positive about the Swans although I thought Grundy showed real class tonight.

Swans were static with noone leading into space all night. And when they did, it was always to the wings. Exactly how not to play the SCG.

And so finally, Paul Roos, who while rightly is credited with getting a lot out of an ordinary bunch of footballers, must be held to account for another woeful night in charge. His diabolical night began with the selection of Mathews and went downhill from there.

We have had a good draw and we have been solid beating weaker teams. Frequent response about an 'easy draw' is that you can only beat the teams you are drawn to play - unfortunately we are not doing that in the tougher games.

Along with the teams below us being pretty damn inconsistent.

I couldn't be bothered reading the rest of the thread but I assume everyone else had roughly the same opinions as me regarding that disgrace of a match. And to cap off a wretched night, because of sexpo and cirque du soleil being on at the same time, I have been in the carpqrk in literally the same spot for an hour with a baby going berko in the back seat. Going to be a long trip home.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Not going to read the whole thread either, but boy were we woeful tonight. Again our lack of effort to run and make space up the ground was pathetic. Decision making was poor, our skills are usually average at best, but tonight they were absolutely atrocious. Having heard that results this afternoon had gone our way, I said before the game that we would probably blow another opportunity to move clear - sorry for being a jinx...

I've only read the posts on this page and I dont think I need to read the rest. Worse performance this year. Worse performance in recent memory. It made the Collingwood debacle look respectable. The entire team and coaching staff should be utterly ashamed of themselves. Season as good as over. Good night!

Hammo , most of your posts make the point very well and enjoy reading most
We would not beat a Essendon ,Richmond ,Roos ,StKilda right now.

Dont know what you were smoking though re Ted Tichards though.
He was one of our best, was beaten by Porps early ,though gave us something at least when thrown forward after Playfair was injured.
LRT ,was he that bad ?? Watch it again he was OK.

Roosy and the coaching panel made 3 bad selections last night.

Ben Matthews : Doesnt need a comment.
Adam Goodes : Injured , should not have played
Peter Everitt : Finished. Adelaide lack a ruckman of any abilty and he wasnt needed on a cold , dewy wet night against their ruck division.
We got Spida 1 year to late , simple as that . We cant even throw him forward because he can hardly move and provide a target and simply cant compete in pack situations. He cant bend and is so slow.
We have 3 young kids in the 2s who would be of better value as a back up ruckman to Jolly and they need to be given some thought now .

Don't dispear 2005. Look, the crows were gritty. So were we, but we just did not click at all. LRT was a lot better than I expected I must say. You know what - I just dont think its our year this year. Lets se how we go, but i can see in 2010 we'll be excellent. Even next year should be good. I though Mattner, Grundy and Bird did some good things.

I agree about Spida though. I doubt he'll play on next season. He looks tired. Jolly was excellent - he's really going great. Hard and tough and a big tall fella.

Go Manuka! Its a good ground for us!

I'll take your point on Richards, however until he went forward I thought he was having a dog of a game. As for LRT well I closely watched him and his best spoils were on Swans players.

The other thing that really grabbed me last night was the number of Swans players running around with no intention of going for the ball - just intent on minding their opponent so he didn't get it.

There were about a dozen instances I saw where a Swan could have run in and picked up a loose ball but instead they had their back to the ball facing a Crows player.

Ben Mathews has built a career on this and he was the worst offender last night. But Benny's presence must have made this infuriating tactic contagious - Ablett, Jack, LRT and even Richards were all doing it.
