    Tim Schmidt

What do we all think about Schmidt? Will he be at the club next year, or is he on the outer?

I'm a big fan and was amazed that he was dropped after one appearance. He was pretty important in getting us over the line against Port.

He has good skills, wins his own footy and makes good decisions.

I'd be very disappointed to see him go.

Fair points. Pace has been a problem all year for us, so I'm not sure we can afford to have Schmidt, Moore and Bird all in the same team - especially when you add Kirk and Ablett into the mix. For that reason he may not be in our plans for the future.

I like Schmidt. Given Kirk can only have 2 years left and Ablett is not much use offensively, I think it would be a mistake to get rid of him. We do need some outside midfielders as well though.

I think we should seek a trade for him. I think there would be other clubs interested but I'm not sure he will get much senior time at the Swans.

          Quoted from another post.

I like him, but I can see why the club may believe he is surplus to requirements and apparently with the need to trim the list, he will be offloaded.

Without knowing what will happen with Leo and Crouchy, if one or both decide it's time, he may get lucky and get a reprieve.

Trips, are you saying he will be delisted or traded?

I didn't go into those details.

I guess they will put him on the trade table to see what they can get, maybe he could be a sweetener to get a deal over the line.

Even if they decide he is going, it doesn't cost anything to try for a suitable trade.

Agree with that. I think he brings a fair bit more to the table than Ablett and looks like he'll be able to spend longer periods in the middle than Moore.

Not sure if there's much point in trading him, as we're probably only going to get a 4th round pick for him. I think he's shown that he is worth more than that.

If given a chance i reckon he could be a highly skilled extractor like Daniel Harris.

But will he get the chance with the Swans?

I can't imagine Leo's decision in anyway being tied to the future of Schmidt. They're totally different players positionally.

Our delistings won't come down to pure numbers this year. With Spida and Mathews already gone and possibly a couple more to follow, we'll turn over the list enough before we even think about delistments.

You actually thought I was talking positionally.

If they decide they want to get Smith, O'Dwyer and/or Murphy on the list, it may well come down to numbers.

Haha are u serious? err reality check!

                            Schneider / Dempster 07 for 26!
                            Mattner for 28

Now if Swans got Ports 2nd round circa pick 19 for them ? then maybe worth it!
