Schmidt wouldn't be worth that much. Port's 3rd rounder or some complicated swap of draft picks.

What's the point in swapping Schmidt for a late draft pick?Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Completely agree.
Tim Schmidt is a good player but he has fallen behind Bird and Moore as an inside midfielder. I think there is a good chance he will make it as an AFL player if given the opportunity.
I think we should look to trade him for a similar calibre player. I would preferably trade with Freemantle who appear to need midfield depth and have a surplus in positions we are lacking. Schmidt for Campbell or Murphy would be a good trade. Both appear to be good players but have Pavlich, McPharlin, Tarrant etc in front of them.
Brisbane and Collingwood also seem to require depth in their midfields.Comment

I think if Schmidt wants an opportunity to play consistent senior footy he should go. I can't see him being a regular first 22 at the swans therefore why not look for a new home for him and get something else we can use to trade on.
If Schmidt is happy to stay at Sydney then great - I like him. I would think tho' that he may want to try his hand elsewhere to get more of an opportunity.Comment

I reckon there might be a few guys like Scmidt who may be getting a little annoyed at Roos continued allegiance to the likes of Ablett, Crouch, Everitt etc while getting precious little game time in firsts except the add cameo.
Not that these same bunch of reserves players have been absolute stand outs but it very difficult to really judge any players AFL ability based on a game here or there (and against the likes of Geelong) and schmidt etc might be feeling like their chance is passing them by.
Port would be a logical choice for Schmidt and / or fosdike due to the home town factor and I could understand them wanting to leave if more game time was promised and the swans were not exactly showing a lot of interest.Comment
