Mind you, if he was involved in a deal to get either Lovett or Kerr here, I'd trade him quicker than Annie downs a scotch....

The Lions just cut his cousin Chris Schmidt. Perhaps we could entice him to stay by playing happy families?

Wow bit surprised about Chris Schmidt. He looked like a classy flanker type in U18s for South Australia a couple of years ago.

Certainly worth a rookie i reckon.

Mills might also gain some interest from us as well. Could be another spud though as his foot skills (very awkward kicking style) are not up to AFL level....probably fit right in with some of our mob.

I can see Tim Schmidt being used in a trade for Lovett.

Win/Win. Essendon need inside midfielder to help Watson now that JJ and Pev are gone, we need a speedy outside mid.

Possibly Schmidt + 3rd rounder for Lovett.

You wouldn't want to give a third rounder as well would you??? Just a straight swap.

Swap would be fine by me, but realistically a sweetener would be needed.

How is Schmidt traveling these days guys. It's very hard to find anything about him at all. I remember last season he went down with injury pretty much when he was on the brink of another 'one week trial' in the seniors. Any updates appreciated.

I spoke to him at the B&F and we discussed the possibility of this being his break out year, he seemed pretty frustrated with himself and upbeat at the same time.

I am sure he will "make it". Just like some of our senior players now who had to step up when most needed. With the dropouts we have had this year it looks like he could get a gig. I think he should, I like Timbo.

This has to be the year. Simple as that.

He is good enough, but needs to be given a chance. I would much rather him in the side over Ablett.

Frightening; we lose 2 players and Ablett survives and hangs in there in the mix. I wonder if he will run the meat raffles this year.
