Klemke is a very well known name in footy in southern NSW. Klemkes have played for the local sides for many generations. That's all I know!

We should steer clear of Yarran. He's very talented but he's extremely lazy and plays very casually. Didn't have a crack in the WAFL GF on Sunday.

He reminds me of Nick Davis.

Is there a chance he was playing "dead".

A few people have potted McKernan on the Big Footy draft threads.

A poster on BF thinks we may bid for Ayce Cordy under the Father-Son rule which could force the Bulldogs hand. I have forgotten how the FS works now but because we are pick 12 and the Bullies are pick 14 we get first dibs. I think if the Bullies nominate him as FS we are then forced to take him with our first round pick if we want to out bid them.

Can someone help on this one.

Sorry, got that one wrong. Seems he is the son of Brian Cordy who played 124 games with the Bullies.

If we - or another club that finished below the Dogs - bid our first round pick, the Dogs can choose to trump that with their next pick (ie their first round pick). If the Dogs choose to pass on that option, whichever club has bid for him is obliged to take him with the pick they bid if he is still available then on draft day. So we wouldn't be guaranteed Cordy with our first round pick but would be obliged to take him if no-one else does first on draft day. If the Dogs choose to match the bid, he is off-limits to anyone else but they have to use that pick (and can't therefore trade it).

The same happens if a lower round pick is bid, but the Dogs just have to match it with their next pick. If no club puts in any bid at all, the Dogs can take him with their last pick in the draft.

This all presumes that Cordy has agreed to be a potential FS pick - he can decline, though that's pretty unusual unless (like Marc Murphy) there is an interstate move involve which he doesn't want - not applicable in these circumstances.

Given how highly Cordy is rated, one club will probably put a bid in unless they are really not interested in taking a ruckman at that stage in the draft. Chances are that the Dogs will match with their first round pick if necessary, and by bidding, it forces the Dogs to use that pick rather than get him for a bargain later in the draft.

Neil Cordy only played 96 games with us, so wouldn't have qualified if that was the case.

Anyway, with all those phantom drafts, year after year they have us picking a tall or a ruckman. They're always wrong and i suspect it will be the case again. Don't see us picking McKernan if he's available.

                            Liz,
You are a wonderful source of info...would you mind letting me (us) know where you get your trade info from? and your other players info? Of course if u choose not to, that's fine too.

                              So we get picks 12, 30, 61 and 62.

Now that we have Shaw, I guess we aren't as desperate for pace anymore.

Chances are we will only get two quality kids from this draft, given our 3rd pick is 61.

Has anyone changed their minds about draft needs? Will we use all four of these picks?

At 27 Shaw is a stop-gap. They wouldn't bank on any player drafted this year to play a meaningful senior role for the next two seasons so I can't see how the recruitment of Shaw will have any meaningful impact on the kind of player they are looking to add via the draft.

If you listen to what Roos said before and after last year's draft and at times this season, you'd think they'll be targetting speed and kicking skills. If they got both in one player they'd be pretty happy. And despite fans' desperation for talls, my prediction is that the no 12 pick will be spent on a small.
