Mc Kernan. Beat Naitanui in the ruck a few times. Maybe a good option.

We should be spoilt for choices for pick 12, I'd also be happy if a Ziebell, Hartlett, Sidebottom or Hurley were to drop to our pick

Hurley would be very tempting. FB for the next 10 years would be most likely assured it seems. I haven't seen him play but he seems like a big strong fullback ala Rutten although there are slight concerns about his pace.

I'm thinking it will be another case of best available over requirements this year and I hope we do go this way again and pick up a flashy, pacy midfielder.

Unless of course if the best available coincides with our requirements that's even better.

I remember Kevin Longbottom but I'm certain there was a Sidebottom, I'm sure I had a footy card of him, hope I've still got it, going home tonight and search, could be worth a fortune. Of course being as old as I am, dementia is an issue

if yarran is available he would be a good pick..classy midfield/forward player, just needs the endurance tank built up.

But blease looks good as well...

You would take the best outside midfielder (if the club is serious about not taking cousins)
then go for the best forward on the 2nd pick...as it appears White could be groomed as the FB to replace leo....

leave 2 picks for pre season draft as it appears to be a few players not on contracts from other cl;ubs that we could top up the list with...

Yarran would be a big risk. Unfortunately he reminds me of Ashley Sampi. All the talent in the world but is very lazy.

true but also depends on the culture surrounding you...Sampi didn't have the best enviroment around him really at the weagles...another club he might have done better...

Having had a look at dread and might's video of Shaun McKernan, it confirms for me that being a recruitment manager is a dreadful job.

From that evidence, I would expect that unless there are psychological or injury issues, McK jr should play at least a few years of regular AFL footy; but it's basically impossible to say whether he will equal or exceed his brother, or whether he'll be a hardworking but uninspired and occasionally bumbling 2nd ruck.

You'd call developing your list via the draft a mug's game, if not for the fact that you have no choice but to play.

Hopefully he puts effort in if we pick him up. There's no room for Nickheads in the Swans anymore.
I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adore

I would be shocked if the Swans didn't go for a tall forward in the first round. The smart money if there is such a thing appears to be on McKernan or Cornelius.

I know it goes against the Roos methodology, but we do have D. O'Keefe, Veszpremi and Meredith all waiting for midfield roles and the wraps on Meredith in particular are pretty good (we already know what Vesz is capable of). Then there is Schmidt, who will hopefully start the season healthy, as well as Brabazon and Jack who can play midfield, not to mention Malceski for some much needed class in there with his knee and confidence back.

We are not short of mids but are desperately short of forward options with the imminent retirements of O'Loughlin and Hall. It appears White and Murphy will be groomed as key defenders.

I think we should look at

                              Trengrove
                              Swift
                              hartlett

No to mckernan ... looks and plays too much like his brother ... in other words he looks like a big log. I think the game has past that type of big lumbering ruckman past. Having said that, the footage i have seen does seem to show a bit of speed on the lead.

I would be really happy with trengrove, swift or hartlett but i have a feeling that all 3 will go in the top 6, if not before us.

That would leave Hill, Yarran, Ziebell, Blease, Sidebottom. Hill is being touted as a possible top 3 selection ... this would surprise me, He reminds me more of Jordan Mcmahon ... hardly the type of player you would want to get with pick 3. Yarran reminds me a little bit of Micky O the way he can one grab marks in one on one contests ... but his work ethic has to be questioned and could be a risk at a pick that we really dont wanna miss on in such a good draft. Im not sold on Ziebell or Blease, solid second round picks.

I wont go on, i think Sidebottom is probably our safest bet, given the above 3 are all gone by pick 12
