Anyone doing what ROK is doing would have probably been shown the door by their employer by now.

He verbally accepted the Swans' offer last week and, without informing the club or coach, is now via his manager publicly canvassing Melbourne clubs through the media.

ROK is a leader at the club and has been mentioned as a future captain. If he wants to leave then fine, but if he's only doing it to boost his salary as appears the case, then it's disgraceful conduct.

The football is business analogy stops when you cross the white line. Whatever his intention, ROK's actions this week have demonstrated to his teammates that he is not 100% committed to playing alongside them and doubts their chances of winning another flag. That lost of trust will be hard to rebuild.

There's so much rubbish in your post you'd need a garbage truck to remove it.
"As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.

Others can say this is rubbish but I think it's pretty spot on.
He is my second favourite player and I don't have a problem with the fact that he is checking out the best he can get, it's the fact that there was a verbal agreement made and as far as his coach was concerned, a contract extension was a done deal, but he then changed his mind.
            Not good enough I reckon!
If someone in my employ did that to me, I'd be pretty bloody annoyed.

If he does go, there will be no "best of luck" from me, I'll be booing him every time he comes near me or the ball. I don't boo Schneider or Dempster, but I'll be booing the crap out of O'Keefe.

I'm booing the dirty dog even if he stays.

There's plenty of views on both sides of the fence on this issue, but to be honest, Ryan has not come out of this smelling of roses.

I'm of the view that he has/had every right to shop himself around, but he didn't really exercise that option, managing himself etc. and at the end of the day, it does appear that he agreed to a deal, which by all accounts was a fair one.

THEN, he lets somebody get in his ear and all of a sudden he has a manager for the first time and reneges on the deal he has agreed to. I am not surprised at all that Roos and the club are pissed and if he stays I hope some bridges which have been burnt back to the pylons in the past week are mended, otherwise we may have just as well let him go.

I'll be booing him if he goes.

I am also of the opinion that if he wants to go, let him go, but make sure we get the best deal we can for him, after all he didn't barrack for us as a kid so he has never been fully committed to the Swans.

It will be a confronting night for him tonight.

As many on here have said , simply poorly handled by Ryan more than anyone and I for one am over it already and will be glad when its all confirmed.
Really dont want him now,and hopefully a flag avoids him as it did Buckley.
Poor effort by a person we all thought presented well, he has let many people down (Teamates & Supporters ).

think he/she is referring to a subsequent flag with a team other than the Swans.

But the comparison with Buckley is so wrong unless you count an SANFL premiership.

The O'Keefe saga may be over by the weekend (although it is a long one): http://news.smh.com.au/sport/okeefe-...1003-4tg0.html

I agree with those who say he's not handled things well but if he stays, I am sure bridges can be built pretty easily. He's too good a footballer for the Swans not to want to do so, especially paying him a fair whack of dosh. Ireland, in particular, is too professional an operator, you'd think. He'd know and understand the pressures of a 27yo negotiating what will probably be the best pay packet of his career. Not many of us have to do that while still in our 20s, and few of us will have others (including mischief makers) whispering in our ears to put doubts into our mind about whether we can do better.

At the end of the day, when the cows come home, he has to take care of his own best interest.

If we can get a top 10 pick for him, I hope we don't waste it on Kerr.

I'd be glad if we traded Barry H as well. I still think we would make the finals next year. If we don't so what. Hopefully we draft some very good talent instead.

Ryan is 28 and we have to give up something good to receive same. Sadly, we don't have too many options.

Football Clubs will shaft players at their will. Look at poor Woewodin, Fitzy, Saddo. So what's fa?@r for one should be fair for the other.

PS. I was joking about Saddo. What about Ryan O"Connor!
