    Goodbye Nick Davis

I will personally never forget his heroics in the 2005 semi final against Geelong. It is disappointing that it seems the differences between player and club are irreconcilable. There must be things in the inner sanctum that we don't know about.

Thank you for helping get us to a Grand Final Nick; actually met you on the night of the B & F in 2005 (you gave me a good tip for the races the next day!). All the best for the future.

Such a talented player that I feel didn't reach his peak for whatever reasons.

Well that settles Pick 62 in the draft. Surprised they are letting him go especially if they don't know what rok is doing. Obviously his very poor attitude has given the Club no choice.
In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.

          Sad news indeed...

A talented forward pocket who could turn the game around and deliver when the Swans needed it most, but there were times when he relied on his talent too much and became lazy on the field demanding the ball without any effort. Injury and fitness issues also lead to his downfall, and of course we all know about the "scapegoat" saga in 2006...

Still, he'll be remembered for the 4 goals that literally got the Swans over the line against Geelong in the 2005 Semi Final and he almost got us over the line against West Coast in 2006 with 3 goals when Hall had a Barry. For the 3rd forward, he managed 150 goals in 97 games for the Swans including several 4-goal and a couple of 5-goal hauls.

Farewell Davo, West Coast or Freo might pick him up in the PSD. Someone will eventually post "Good riddance, don't let the door hit you on the way out!"

"NICK DAVIS!!!!! I SEE IT BUT I DON'T BELIVE IT!!!!!" will be etched into Swans folklore and so will "KICK IT TO DAVIS!!!!!"

            In: Shaw
            Out: Davis

Our list just officially became less talented.

He gave us good value for the single draft pick he cost us. The last year and a bit do not overshadow the many solid seasons beforehand. He added spark and unpredictability to a side which desperately needed those qualities.

A sad day indeed. Nick Davis has another 3 years in him and should be in our leadership group, let alone our best 22. Probably the right decision to remove his disruptive influence from the club, but I cannot help feeling that it all could have been handled better. Given the ROK situation and Barry Hall issues earlier this year, perhaps our Messiah coach has a real difficulty managing conflict and accepting diversity. One wonders how long Shaw will last.

At the least, Nick Davis secured his place in Swans folklore, which is more than most can say.

                  P.S.
There is moral to both this story and the ROK story. If you appoint a player manager, make sure you get a good one.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

I expected it, but still extremely dissapointing.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

The two supporters banners that also stand out in my mind are ..
                      1) the Swans' NICK DAVIS. HERE TO SAVIS, and
                      2) Pies' DAVIS=TRAITOR.

You never know, Nick Davis might get re picked in the draft by the Swans a la Amon Buchanan in 2003 and Heath James in 2004. Personally, I very much doubt it.

Can't say that I'm entirely surprised. Davo could be brilliant on his day(05 Semi!) but his attitude toward football this year just left a lot to be desired and man does not live on past glory forever.

Sad day at my house. The Swan Gnomes are wearing black armbands!
My Nick Davis player badge is now a collectors item.
Good luck Davo. You are a really nice guy, always happy to have a chat and I loved your exuberance in playing your footy.
Thanks for that 13-odd minutes of the most amazing and superb football I've ever seen.
