Were you a student then Missy? That rise doesn't make sense at all.

      Gold : DOWN $15
      Silver : DOWN $95

If you used to have Members Reserve memberships...

      Red Zone : DOWN $20

So it's really only the top category of seating from stand and concourse that are getting a price hike.

I don't like price raises, but in principle I agree with the concept of graded seating. If you want a better seat, you should have to pay more for it .
      Agree 100% Des.
Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

We can't afford the new prices.
My money is on a reduced membership
I've long felt a shift to being ripped off by successive administrations and lack of consultation being the norm in a "club" that is run by the "anointed ones" of the AFL. Loyalty has no place either on the field or off it. During Barassi's reign I put it on management (after game) for return of kick....their response was to send the goons. I recall going to the game when rubbery figures said we had 3000 at the game.....pick a seat was order of the day. Success on the field brought the marketing grubs to the fore and the prices keep getting bumped upwards until we now have a $70 hike.....25% increase in my case. It can't be justified on any grounds.

Oh well come and join us in the "Red Zone" ours is cheaper - mind you the facilities aren't that flash - but hey it will be replaced soon enough with a grand spanking new grandstand (and then our fees will go up accordingly) but for the time being - if we save a few $$$ then tops!

the alternative is that you go the installment option, its softens the blow over an 11 month period. I think that its nuts for a footy club to hit everyone for the spondoolies just prior to Chirstmas - but I guess they have to do it sooner rather than later for budget reasons.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

It costs a lot of money to run a successful football club.

I don't mind putting my money where my mouth is (but then, I have no financial responsibilities - kids, wife, etc.)
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

in the last 25 years i have created 2 companies and two associations in the non profit sector....they still exist and I continue to manage one of each. I have nil respect for those who own their position by appointment and who are not accountable for the decisions that they make. Only stooges would argue against having a vote and a kick.

Expect price rises for 2010 also, isn't the promotion to sign before next year to keep the same price?

With respect, I have started my own companies as well, but catering for the views of 30,000+ people, with complex issues such as public liability insurance, are much more of a challenge when you can't control the behaviour of the thousands of people that impact on your decisions.

Rather than broad and simplistic pot-shots, perhaps you might wish to name specific names when referring to those in "position by appointment and who are not accountable for the decisions".

Forget the prices, I am just upset over the fact that my six-month-old daughter has received her membership renewal pack and I haven't!!!!

Might have something to do with the fact that Melbourne office does the baby memberships and they have already sent their packs out........

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

I earn a reasonable income in a (hopefully) secure job and have no family responsibilities; so I can afford it. But I'm the exception rather than the rule.

But to put price hikes like this on at a time when the economy is going into recession isn't the brightest idea ever. I can see crowds like the sparse attendance at the final against North being a regular feature of next season.

Yeah, I agree 100%. I will renew, I still haven't decided if I will keep my "Premium" seat and am unsure if I will keep Premiership Club, but I will renew all the same, but I can see a percentage of current members saying, "hmmm ok, maybe we will just go to a few games next year" instead of paying upfront.

I feel the same way as you. I sit in the platinum area of the Brewongle Stand - it will be interesting to look around me in Round 4 next year and see how many familiar faces have renewed. I have a feeling the family who sits behind me might not be there.
