I'm glad that you and what's left of your group are re-signing pinkemu.
It gives me faith for the future of our club.

As for your last post re the poodles, if you're going to pay $1045 for two adult memberships, isn't it better to kick in a couple hundred more and get to take four to the game for a little more than the price of two? Don't worry, I'll just take the extra money needed out of the rent.

Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

Be Carefull with your faith Annie, We are loosing 6 of the group that I know of so far

As for the memberships, True, but I'm just so incredibly excited about all those precious metals we can buy now that I'd like to have the whole collection. And unfortunately the poodles can't come to the footy (OH&S)

Obviously I am not privy to the club's membership records, but you would think that they would have done their research on the number of affected people and made the changes accordingly.

Well, at least I hope so.

Anyway, it's going to be awesome - I'll have so much more space to myself up in the O'Reilly
A small point of clarification - your green concourse zone isn't neccessarily all cheaper. Single adult seats are $20 less, but families sitting in those areas are paying between $10 and $180 more, depending on how many kids they have in the package and (as you say) whether they were season ticket holders or not.

It begs the question as to what marketing guide the club was using - "let's go after the kids" wouldn't feature prominently in most handbooks!

Was management actively trying to be a modern day grinch, or did they just bumble and fumble their way towards that outcome?

The numbers are ugliest for season ticket holders in the gold seats - Family of 2 adults and 2 kids has gone from $590 to $970 (I had been saying $580 in previous posts, but that was from faded memory - I've now dusted off the membership brochure). It is indefensible and blindingly stupid, no matter what the club says via a panicked open letter to members.

If this forum is anything to go by, they will be getting the strongest possible protest message from a lot of people. It will be far more effective than writing to them - or calling the membership department to effectively be told to like it or lump it (in their defence, there is little else management has left the front liners to say). We'll be taking the revenue negligible super pass at ANZ and will pick two or three SCG games to go to. And if we can't get in to a particular SCG game, so be it (but I doubt we'll have any trouble).

I'm signing off now - no more posts from me on this topic - it is all just so much hot air in the end, and nothing any of us say will change anything. I am past being angry and have moved into just being over it. We are resigned to seeing less of the team (live) next year, and ultimately I accept that the club has every right to do as it sees fit and what it thinks is best. We will do the same.

An open letter to Swans Members

By now you should have received in the mail your copy of the 2009 Membership Guide...

A 5 page letter, from Myles. Obviously, been a lot of complaints.

I beg to differ.....maybe you are right legally because we are denied voting rights....but I don't accept the legitimacy of the board or management. I didn't vote for them....but I suppose we are just regarded as a cash cow having no say or input. Colless and his board are just not accountable to anyone except the AFL Commission and thus treat us with contempt. Its time for a membership based club where loyalty (length of membership) actually counts for something. Where input is welcome and ideas debated.....not an oligarchy of the rich.

              Divide and conquer??

Looks like I'm getting the second membership after all ... the Richmond fan is not renewing.

The Premiership Club option was introduced at the end of 2004, and became operable in 2005. Check with the club.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

No it had to be end of 2003 for 2004, simply because I had received two premiership club gifts by the Premiership lol - a Scarf and Umbrella.

Haha yes - I remember running out in the street outside our house with the umbrella after we beat St Kilda in the prelim yelling "this is the greatest umbrella ever!!!"

If you count up the premiership club gifts it adds up too.

For what its worth ... they've lost two members here. We have a mammoth savings task for next year and the increase pushed us over the edge.

We'll watch from home and go to the few games we were really keen to see. It was very poor timing from the club.

It was a Friday night, there were around 5,000 people scattered around like the last few peas in a can, and we watched a great game I barely understood end in a 90-90 draw after the Swans were 20 odd points down in the last and James Hird sprayed a shot in the dying seconds.
Actually, the crowd was over 22,000. There were no crowds under 10,000 in Sydney in 1996.

Obviously applying the reverse of normal rugby league crowd counting

Your posting is perceptive, but the documentation I received from the club advising the introduction of Premiership Club is dated at the end of 2004, not 2003.

Perhaps the option was introduced at different times for different members.

                              AFL freezes 2009 ticket prices - www.realfooty.com.au

The freeze will apply to general admission and does not affect the cost of membership packages, which are set by clubs. Demetriou said the league was concerned to keep giving back to fans and keep the game affordable. "We had a good response to that a couple of years ago (2004) and we wouldn't be averse to that going ahead"..."But we have absolute committment to maintaining affordability at junior levels"

Well, if I can't afford to go I won't be sending the kid on his own......

                                From the letter

Fact: Every adult and family member has the ability with the extra choices available to reduce the price of their 2009 membership relative to what they paid in 2008. So in a sense you can choose what you are happy to pay for and can afford.

                                Is that really true?
