I did not renew my membership because Davo was sacked. No other reason. I expect thousands have done the same.

Spot on. Increasing prices on the cusp of the second great depression is a stroke of Wall Street genius. As the Sydney Swans Titanic steams towards the iceberg of insolvency (yet again) the orders from the bridge do not inspire confidence - "great faith in the product" "we continue to review our business model and this classic of shoulder shrugging gibberish The major issues continue to be that too large an amount of revenue is linked to on-field performance, and too high a percentage of our costs are fixed. While we have consistently looked at a range of variations to the business model, including an investment into gaming and hospitality, the board has no simple solution other than to contain costs." So the idiot mob that secretly recruited the Wallet in preference to a great coach that was already on the payroll, went into clubland just as the riverboat casinos were about to float up @@@@e creek and gouged its own supporters do not have a clue. Stand close to the lifeboats and start singing Nearer My God to Thee

Your thoughts that people used the ground construction as an excuse being crap are harsh, if they did so be it - its their perogative - and they dont have to answer to you, or anyone else for that matter, as to whether they attend or not.

Yes its true that Sydney supporters can be fickle - but there are some Victorian clubs that have the same situation in Melbourne - for example notice the turn around with Richmond - their membership numbers were dwindling as they kept coming 9th, now they have Cousins their numbers have shot up in anticipation of them doing better - however, if they dont perform - expect the numbers to drop again. Its the nature of the beast, also people priorities during the course of their lives change - it doesnt mean they love the team any less, things just change, financial situations change - its just the way it is.

There are three of us gals who have sat together at games, in the same formation, for years, but 2 have different things happening in their lives now so have let their membership go this year, they will get to the odd game but thats about it. And the truth is that like me, they didnt enjoy season 2008 much at all and we were all only going to the games so as not to let each other down (which is a mark of great friendship)

I still love the Swans (although this "hurting for them" stuff is a bit much) but all the controversies, the crap within the club, the complete lack of a playing plan "b" formula - all of which they brought upon themselves, made it, for me, a tediously long season.

Whilst I have renewed my membership - I wont be busting a gut to get to every game like I used too - I too have different priorities now - thats life!
Wardy , I never stated I follow the Storm, so your wrong there.
Just follow there results , never been to a game and never will.
Its pretty much an example of a what I describe a Sydney Supporter in NSW. If we win its Ok if we lose, who gives a @#@# .Surely you get the drift.

Most of your explanations are valid and I understand them and are your opinons of yourself. I just rekon they are typical of some Sydney supporters .
Dont agree at all regarding The Hurting for the Club thing.
Im sure when we lost in 06 it hurt Wardy ,if it didnt well there is something wrong with you. Im sure footy at some stage as hurt you, Im saying I only wish more Sydney people roll with the bad as they have with the good.
We have had plenty of good in the last 10 years by the way.

Your remarks on " A tediously long season " are interesting and weird.
If a Top 8 Finish , winning a final are not acceptable in what a bloody tough competition you are very hard to please. Look what has happened to the Eagles and Port after premiership wins. There was hardly a game where we werent in a position to win at some stages. We lost games we should of one, though we probably won games we should of lost.

Also the controversies within the Club . What were they ??
Just rekon as the post said we are looking in trouble with membership numbers
and believe we have weak and fickle support aver the border

Slightly pedantic, but if it occurs it would be the third "great" depression. The 1890's, 1930's were the other two.

Dont want to knock SYDNEY (NSW) supporters though going what you read on here and the Sydney sporting public its how it always has been.
You only have to see the NRL and its numbers.
Winning culture is what they follow, once its gone so does the support.
Sydney FC ( A League ) is the perfect example right now.
They have stopped winning, and the support stops going.

Membership prices sure will be a major part in this though , I just wish Sydney people would be more LOYAL when the list looks every bit as good as last year and there is no reason we cant be right in the mix again.
Many on here used the redevelopment of the ground as the reason on the dwindling support and attendance last year which is just crap.

Melbourne membership will be around the same mark as always .

Just wish SYDNEY people would hurt more for the club and not just follow the Swans. Always said that, been to heaps of games up there and it seems more a show for many North of the border and more of trench warfare down here.WATCHING and FOLLOWING are 2 different forms of support.

As I said earlier , most on here hurt for the Bloods and will always be there but heaps on here and general Sydney support (non members) are just so fickle when it comes to support of the club.
Its like the Storm down here, if we win Im happy, if we lose I dont give rats.
Much of our support in Sydney is like that, if we are winning they go , if its to wet or cold or losing better stay at home seems to be the go.

I will always find a way to get the funds and be a member like I do when paying every other bloody bill that comes through the door.
I just make getting a membership a priority and its a thing that is something I love and is a reward. Getting your membership is better than the Gas Bill.

Its not a post to get people angry just something that I believe and I think we will have a real huge fall this year which is a shame.
I can only see us having more members than Melbourne ATM.

The only thing I remember from 2006 was that Johnnie Walker helped ease any pain I wasn't feeling!!

Actually, I believe I was already pain-free well before the game even started.

Like Ange, disappointed, but not hurt.
