I have a nice bottle of Tyrells rough red maturing nicely. Shall open it when the greatest mob of hypocrites are put to the sword. Shall sip slowly and recall the real pain my old dad and mum went through at the time that the heart of a great club was ripped out by Aylett and Co. O sweet revenge. As for the whining roo supporters go and tell someone who gives a tossI seem to recall stories of Eugene Arocca being involved - seems odd considering his arguments for the Kangaroos to stay in Melbourne. Despite being a non-Victorian and having benefited from the Swan's move, I'm still one to hold a grudge. I shall shed no tears when the Kangaroos fold and lose their identity when their remnants become the third Western Australia team.
Have I said that Cuz would have been good for membership numbers?Bevo bandwagon driverComment

I have a bottle of 2004 Swans Team Port. What a rip off and I'm not talking because it was a year too early. I was going to drink it when we won a premiership but I don't really like port that much and 1 year wasn't enough for my tastes to mature. Maybe I'll drink it when the Roos relocate.
Although I might just donate it for a raffle like I promised and knock off a bottle of Giaconda instead.Comment

So clearly you have no evidence of your assertion re Aylett. Pretty poor form.I have a nice bottle of Tyrells rough red maturing nicely. Better crack that Tyrells - most of their stuff goes to vinegar after about 5 years!
I only butted into this forum as some poster had a crack at "Norf's" numbers but didn't offer a comment on the lack of data from the swans!
I enjoy the banter anyway..... cheersComment

What has that got to do with my post? There are more posters on this forum that were originally South Melbourne supporters than there are real North Melbourne members.
I know a North supporting family that bought memberships for all of their relatives, despite the fact most of them are members of the teams that they actually support.

I enjoyed the Kangaroos over-achieving in 2007 and then getting smashed by the Swans in 2008 after they over-achieved again.
It keeps their members hopes up that they'll somehow achieve onfield success and find a sustainable membership base.........or was that the SwansComment

Yep - we are much in the same boat. Your mob have been accused of over achieving since about 2004! Regardless of who you support, there is always hope (Freo may be an exception to this rule...)I enjoyed the Kangaroos over-achieving in 2007 and then getting smashed by the Swans in 2008 after they over-achieved again.

Well before you butt out consider these quotes from a Melbourne hack KAren Lyon regard the god awful gnome Aylett. This worm who made a lucrative living extracting the choppers of the citizens of South Melbourne also extracted their football club.So clearly you have no evidence of your assertion re Aylett. Pretty poor form.

Talking bout the exiling of the bloods from Lake Oval he chortled "The real thing is, I am a believer and I am determined and I have been able to have a vision, and I think that is born in people.
"I believe in something enough to be a driver and (then) drive, drive, drive. I have got on well enough with people to band people together, so it's just not me on the journey, it's a group of people on the journey. I never set out to do it, everything has just evolved. We were all young and gung-ho, not just about the North Melbourne football club but where football was going generally."
The premierships, the boardroom battles and even death threats when as president of the VFL, Aylett oversaw the relocation of South Melbourne to Sydney, a move that became deeply bitter.
His achievements at VFL level were yesterday lauded by Geelong president Frank Costa. "He's responsible, really, for the VFL coming of age as a national competition," Costa said of his long-time friend. "He really pushed our competition outside Victorian borders.
"He's a fellow with great vision and with the courage of his own convictions. He made something happen that most felt were impossible. What we're seeing at the moment is absolutely Australia's premier sporting competition . . . Allen Aylett has to take an enormous amount of credit for being one of the key architects - if not the key architect - in putting AFL football together. I think football owes him an enormous debt."
Aylett's former general manager Ron Joseph was more effusive. "Even though (influential AFL administrators) Graeme Samuel and Ross Oakley would never acknowledge it . . . the reason we've got a national football league today is because of Allen Aylett," he said. "He was the one who put himself at risk, he was the one who lost the presidency in the fight to go national. He orchestrated Sunday football and Friday night football and the rationalisation of grounds, and he's never really been acknowledged for it because football's not an industry that has grace.
"His contribution to the AFL has been incalculable . . . Allen never gets any credit and if he does, it's fleeting."
Costa described Aylett as "an absolute champion".
"He led from the front, got the hard ball and he was a committed team player as well," Costa said.
Then after ramming through the exiling of one of the foundation clubs of the VFL the little hypocrite had this to say.
"Faced with the choice between half a club and the possibility of none at all, North Melbourne chose the latter. It is a decision born of the admired and fabled Shinboner spirit: better to risk dying on your feet rather than live on your knees ? in exile." - The Age 8 December 2007
Aylett and the clique that has run the roos into the ground led the charge against our club. The demise of these pretenders can't come quick enough. Ill drink the Tyrells before it turns to vinegar. And even if it does it will still taste like champagneBevo bandwagon driverComment

Kanga, I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but the Swans have decided to introduce the concept of graded seating in their membership packages for 2009.
It means that a lot of members, whether as individuals or families, face stiff increases in the cost of their membership for 2009. It's especially an issue at the SCG, because of the hodge-podge nature of the stands at that venue.
Some membership packages in the less desirable areas have dropped in price, but other people are facing price hikes of more than 20%. The cost of my seat in the Brewongle stand has increased by about 20%, and I while I'm not happy about it, I'll wear it. But a lot of people are not wearing it.
The Swans have always been reluctant to publish membership figures, but this year they've probably got even more reasons to be reluctant.Comment

Hang on a second... doesn't it say that he was the president of the VFL. Now I know North has some pull, but to suggest that this links it to being the main proponent of the SMFC demise is truly a laugh..... Keep trying Connolly - you can do better........ No worries mate, I am not picking a fight, just pointing out it is a bit rich to flog 'Norf' for whatever figures they release about memberships, when your own club doesn't release any. cheersKanga, I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but the Swans have decided to introduce the concept of graded seating in their membership packages for 2009.

So when the little grub became VFL president he cut all ties to North cabal. Also the role of the late and unlamented Ron Casey deserves a mention. Channell Seven then immensly powerful in the VFL pushed for the Bloods to go to Sydney as part of their ratings strategy. Casey became another unsucessful North leader. North and the Carlton Crims were the main offenders. In those days the VFL were run by a few influential clubs. Aylett never lost his allegiences to North when he ran the VFL. And now he talks about better to die than live on your knees in exile!!! By the way this statement by the little arse clown is an adaption of a quote from Mussolini. Somewhat appropriateHang on a second... doesn't it say that he was the president of the VFL.
