Do you actually have mates Cheer Squad?

Or do you have shares at Homebush?

Nome of my mates has a problem with Homebush. And I don't think it's a publicly-listed entity.

Because they are prepared to pay, the club needs the members and by the sounds of it, needs the dosh too.

Personally I can't imagine not buying a full 11 game membership but I don't give one iota if the people sitting next to me at in the O'Reilly prefer not to go to Homebush. It doesn't devalue my membership - which, by the way - I don't see as a privilege, certainly not while there are more premium seats than there are people who want to sit in them.

From an economic rationalism point of view, it just doesn't make sense to turn away dollars from people who want to pay them. Not unless those who sit amidst the empty seats relishing the fact they have an 11 game membership, are prepared to pay even more to protect the "privileged status" of their full memberships.

I do understand what you're saying. People taking up the SCG-Lakeside option aren't allowed to upgrade to Premiership Club, depriving the club of an extra $80 or so in revenue. From a revenue point of view it doesn't make sense.

The club will probably see how what happens this year and review the situation if it turns into a disaster. We''ll get a good idea when everyone takes their seats at the first SCG game in Round 4 against Carlton.

So to get what they wanted a club had to move interstate. Amazingly the VFL run by a ex North Melbourne person picked on South and Fitzroy, even though both these clubs had larger support, better facilities at there grounds, my god the Lake Oval was in better nick and larger sitting facilties, the same with the Junction oval over North's Arden street but they still got there ground improvement and club funds, while ours was withheld. Hence the downward spiral especially after season 1977 and the talent we had at the club.

The day my club was shifted, the rest of the clubs in Melbourne could go to hell with the VFL. After what happened to Fitzroy I'm glad we moved wholly and solly as ourselves to Sydney, so we still have a club. The more the Melbourne clubs whinge these days, the more I laugh. Can't wait for the day that the so call mighty Kanga's are either dead and buried or forced to move and merge. They have been trouble for the last ten years, should have moved to the Gold Coast and stay as a club with history but they have taken the road Fitzroy took, give them 5 to 10 years and they will be gone, ha ha ha.

Karma is good, revenge is so sweet for those who wait.

                  Go the mighty BLOODS
Not only did I see the letter to the South Melbourne Cricket Club threatening to take away their tenant that kept the SMCC afloat. I also saw plans for a grand stand that went almost all the way around the bowling green wing. But as you said, North got their funds to improve Arden St oval (can't see where they improved it apart from the social club) and we got shafted. That new stand would have made it about the best suburban ground going.

The North Ground was a tiny ground and nowhere for it to expand, very similar to Punt Road oval (Richmond) that was sided by 2 main city roads.

You sure have the same ideals, "Reward the Rich" , "If you don't like it, then move".

I'm looking forward to seeing the Bombers again at the SCG in daylight.

No, I'm definitely not one of the club insiders, and for the record, I doubt the wisdom of changing membership structures in the current climate. The club has to cater to a diverse range of people, and thinks the best way to do that is graded seating with appropriate privileges. The timing is questionable.

The crowd would certainly have fit into the SCG that night. So what? We won the game and the atmosphere was great. That is all you could ask for.

Gee you must have been desperate to find something wrong with the orginal post, to quote a spelling mistake, just goes to show how desperate north supporters have become.

As for how the starting line up is looking, I didn't know the whole season relys on the first week line up and three players don't make a side unlike North who depend on only a few and some shinbonner spirit. A spirit that comes from the rough old days when north players went around kicking oppsition players in the shins when they where losing.

Do you expect me to respond to this drivel?

Even Connolly comes up with a more mature and better argument. He can spell "relies" and "shinboner" properly too!

Speaking of which, it may be more interesting this season, now that the darling Devil Spawn is able to move about on her own....

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Here's the latest from the club on member numbers

Currently, we have around 18,500 members across both Sydney and Melbourne, with many members still continuing to renew their membership each week in the lead up to the start of the season.

I wonder how many of the 18,500 so far are from Melbourne? I understood we had about 8,500 members in Melbourne last year.
