C'mon Liz. You need to go past George St.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Do Surrey Hills and Balmain count?

And yeah, I can just about get myself to Homebush. Though I normally just get on the train at Redfern and then shut my eyes.

No - Surry Hills doesn't count. Balmain ... maybe, and that's a big "maybe".

Sydney memberships don't normally arrive until the season is upon us, and we got an email a couple of weeks ago to say they'd arrive just before round 1. Those who have said they already have them are - I believe - all Melbourne members. Thing with Melbourne (and presumably country memberships) is that the cards don't need to be personalised with seats in the same way that the Sydney ones are.
Milperra is in the SW of sydney (near Bankstown). Yes I am a full club member. I called the club today and was told that they were in the process of sending them out and I would get it within the next couple of weeks. I did not know that about the Melbourne memberships but in previous years I've usually got mine by the end of February or early March not just before the first round.

Yes, it would seem most members who have already received their packs are Melbourne members. I assume I will get it sometime between now and the first home game.
                Des,

Amazingly Milperra is not that well known, despite the Fathers Day bikie massacre and the fact it is the birthplace of arguably our greatest Olympian in Ian Thorpe(BTW his mother was my 5th grade teacher back in 1981 ). I have to explain its whereabouts everytime I tell someone where I'm from.

An email was sent out yesterday, stating that there was a glitch if you renewed between certain dates.
The glitch has been sorted and packs are on their way.

Do we REALLY need another hat? I never wore last year's. Just didn't like it. Didn't feel comfortable either.

I see they are selling members scarves through the Melbourne office for $15 this year. Not a bad idea I guess. They do look nice, but do I really need another Swans scarf? Especially when the 2005 Premiership scarf does just fine thank you. And will be worn for as long as the scarf is in decent condition.

With many Sydneysiders that can hardly be said to be the case, I'm afraid.(See the constant "I won't go to Homebush" whinges from people who social life has been ruined by a 30 minute train trip. )

Usually the Sydney brochure is heaps more lavish than the Melbourne one. You really have to sell the idea of being a member and what it gets you to many people it seems. Whereas in Melbourne they could send out a piece of paper with "Tick here" & it wouldn't make much difference. Still it would be good to break the 10000 member mark down here!

We used to have Cheer Squad members who'd join just to get the t-shirt poster & stickers each season. Then you'd never see them again for the whole season!

As much as it is nice to know you are getting what other clubs are getting, to me it matters naught when it comes to the crunch. I get to contribute to my club financially, I get to feel part of my club. And no transistor radio or snazzy red & umbrella is going to change that to be honest.

I was impressed with the way I was treated, and it showed, to me, that the Melb office care about the members, even if the gurus who put the packages together this year appear not to.
The Melbourne office just have a great way with dealing with people. They really have the common touch & often get to know you by name. Which makes dealing with them a generally pleasant experience. It is like we are talking to friends as much a buying tickets or whatever. They came to one of our banner making nights with pizzas to say thanks for making the banners for the year. Then several of them started cutting out letter with the ladies!

                            Seriously, they rock!

And you want to take her to Milperra?

Is it true they these days they have the $2.50 all day Sunday ticket in Sydney like they do down here? That would maybe getting to Central then the SCG on the 391 or 339 bus really affordable! Maybe they could print special Swans ones in conjunction with CityRail/Sydney Buses as a bit of cross promotion?

Now THAT would be something people would WANT to receive in their members, several of those for the Sunday arvo family-themed match days.
