    Round 7 - Geelong

Not much to say this week, is there? The Cats by at least 42, Gary Ablett Jnr or no Gary Ablett Jnr.

Anything less than last year's losing margins of 42 and 39 points, and we'll have done well.

Too many years of watching the Swannies win the unwinnable games to tip against them now.

I still recall going to a friend's place to watch us get slaughtered by Port in the finals in 2003. And we (well, Goodes) ran away with the game - for one of our great wins. So I think we'll play hard and do better than the Dees and scrape away a win. Then I'll be excited about the rest of the season and will accept Roos as a messiah for how he has brought new players for old.

I could see us keeping it reasonably tight for much of the game, but I think it will blow out to Geelong in the end.

"When you've got nothing, you have nothing to lose."

Melbourne went out against Geelong and had a red hot go, but were let down by their skill levels. If we apply the same intensity we could get closer then most think. If it gets tight we might be able to hold ground. My heart says Sydney by 2, but my head doesn't expect anything better then Geelong by 50.

Seeings there was no rip us a new one option, I decided to go with the miracle.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

I think our skill level at the moment is not far above the Dees. We need Bird back and McVeigh et al to get over the fumbles. Our defence is excellent and if we can stop Chapman (he always kills us) then we could sneak one.

Miracles can happen. We've got Magic and Super Marty. They haven't got Gazza the Great or Big Red. We've got an edge in the Canadian ruckmen department.

Centrebet has us at 6.75. Melbourne were at $18 and they were in front for five minutes.

Without the miracle, it's Geelong by three goals.

I'm with Annie. Rationally, I just dread next weekend. But I refuse to quash those last slivers of illogical against-all-odds hope.

That, and I'm stocking up on a good store of booze to numb anything too catastrophic.

I've tipped the cats. My tipping has been @@@@ so far this year.
                  Let's hope that continues.

First quarter top rate intensity is the key.
Silence the crowd - take it out of the equation.

The first quarter intensity against Richmond was evident. Richmond has the same problem as Swan on first quarter problem? Was there some new pre-game routine done? If it is then, add 30% more of the same routine! Fire from the first minute.

Surely, smart coaches would have worked out ways to counter Geelong way of playing by now - moving fast constantly in group. They could be caught stranded by us kicking more longer distances accurately in quick time, no deer in the headlights look, bypassing pack groups.

We just have to play differently from the past ways against them.

Then we dont have to open up too many of booze bottles to deaden any nerves

There is the Paki v Sri Lanka approach which could work, but look how well that was received in the press.

The current record is 190 points, the Cats need to kick straight first.
