The grain of truth in the OP is that he was known to do stupid things at pivotal moments in big games. It did happen on Sat night. When he kicked it into the West Coast player, it looked horrible. The cricket equivalent would be lifting your head and trying to smash the ball out of the park with 6 runs to win, 1 wicket in hand 3 overs remaining, only to be bowled.

I think we have a new leader in "The most stupid thread of the season" competition.

I would suggest the thread starter should actually watch the game next week before making a comment. On the other hand they could also realise that everyone makes mistakes.....like was made in starting this thread.

Shaw has been a great pick-up for us and he has been the perfect replacement for Kennelly, who incidently, caused some turnovers from time to time whikst he was a Swan.

I can't believe anyone is criticising Shaw. I call him the energiser bunny - he just goes and goes and goes. So he makes mistakes at times, so do the rest of the team, but he has been a very valuable addition to the team in my opinion

Far from criticising him, and as I said somewhere else, I think Shaw has the capacity to do what Paul Williams used to do as an outside midfielder. He has the attributes: speed, kick, positioning. And Willo made the odd clanger too.

Shaw seems to have the sort of pace that we have been sreaming out for and is far more valuable than an injured tadgh has been for the last two years. An excellent pickup whose only drawback I feel is sometimes running too far with the ball when a leading player upfield would have been the better option.

Sometimes when you run too far (and Leo used to do this) you put your leading half forwards out of position because they time their runs when you first start to stream out of the backline. Mind you I would rather streaming out of the backline at pace and occassionally running too far than a one paced slow moving alternative that we have adopted at times when we go back into our shells (ala second quarter v St Kilda).

My only criticism (of a player who has been very good for us) is that he tends to burst forward to the wing and then just throws it onto the boot. Gets turned over a fair bit.

Maybe under instruction, maybe he's just a bit dumb (certainly looks it), maybe it's the only option.

Grates a little. IMO.
