He wins the most stupid thread of the season and it's only Rd 8.

Shaw will win Swans Best and Fairest in 2009.

Josh Fraser on the One HD show last night made particular reference to the improvement in Shaw's kicking this year.

Has there been a better pick up by another Club?

It's been mentioned on RWO for years now. Can't he hear or see someone coming at him??

Ray, while good, is reaping the benefits of playing in a very, very good side at the moment.

Some amazing stats in that story. I think Shaw is about no. 10 in the league for kicks (can't be bothered checking, but he was a week ago).

He has been a great pick up, we would be lost without him, since he has moved to Sydney his training has picked up a lot.

Agree - think I've seen all of St.Kilda's matches this year. He's been good but I reckon Shaw is giving us more than Ray is giving St.Kilda.

Lynch knocked him to the ground jumped over Shaw's prostrate body scooped up the ball swung his boot across his shoulder .. straight through the middle. He Lynch pumped his fist into the air! Game over! It was great stuff.
It was a surprise Shaw stayed at Collingwood. It was an awful gaff. Did he not learn from that incident? He is now doing the same thing at Sydney. He has been given a bit of a boost by the media and I truly think it has gone to his head. He tried it on several times against West Coast and invariably stuffed it up every time. And who appointed him the general of the backline? He gets the ball meanders around, changes direction as if he owns the place. Surely he is the junior in terms of seniority?. Craig Bolton and then Mattner should be the generalissimo's back there. Get back in your place Shaw! Cut out the fancy stuff and just get on with it. Grab a brain.

In light of Shaw's fantastic form for Sydney 2009, I seriously believe that the opinions expressed to commence this thread are so incorrect that they were stated either to be provocative or to be sarcastic.

Shaw was typecast at Collingwood. He was also something of the whipping boy. The kid from the famous family that would never be as good as his Dad and Uncle. His renaissance is a great story and another gold star for Roos. The symbolism in the coach picking him up at the airport did more than just make him feel welcome. He was made to feel that he is important to the team. And he is playing like it. He was treated like a failure at Collingwood and often played like one. Roos is simply a brilliant tactician with players. For the first time in his football career he is being treated as a good footballer in his own right. Plus it must be grouse ( and so good to have a player who talks Abbotsfordese) to be away from two of the most obnoxious characters in footy Mick and Eddie.

He's playing really well for us - filling in our huge loss from Kennelly's departure. One of the worst heads to ever wear a Swans jumper though (not surprising when you consider Ray Shaw!).
