Plus his tugging style of tagging will cost us dearly if he ever lines up against a really quick opponent on our backline.
Crouch has slowed down a lot. But that's from being the fastest player in the competition. Now he's about the same speed as a moderate-paced midfielder, say Bevan for example. But what he has over others, say Bevan for example, is remarkable smarts. I saw him direct the concluding minutes of a close game last year and got us the win and was taken last weekend with his cleverness again.

Aker's getting older, too. And maybe getting smarter, too. Should be fun.

One on one always went the spoil overhead.
It's not up to everyone else to correct your ridiculous statements, but it's always tempting to expose you.

How about Crouch backing into a much bigger player on the lead - Lance Franklin - in the last minute of the Hawthorn game this year and save a goal when Bolton was caught out of position?

      Had the blinkers on again?

Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''.

I quoted Pablo Neruda in this thread, perhaps a RWO first? If so I really don't post enough.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

The same reason you couldn't see Bevan had a good game against West Coast.

Connolly obviously doesn't rate Crouch and refuses to concede he may have had some good moments, preferring to dwell on his negatives.

                Understand now?

FWIW, I thought Crouch was terrific on the weekend and last year was one of our best at Manuka and in the SF, both against the Dogs. I'm looking forward to see how he goes this weekend.

                  That's a bit harsh.

Swans were just getting clearance after clearance in the first quarter. The game was over before they had a chance.

The Port midfield are hardly slouches. Thought Jack did a great job.
The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.

Their midfield lacks hard strong inside types. We kill them in the clinches. Still it was a great win and Jack was terrific.

No, I did not say 42 played badly against WC. I said he was somewhere in the middle of our team, not one of the worst, or best.
I didn't think a great deal of our overall team performance that night FWIW, nearly losing a game we should have won by 6 goals, so being in the middle does not necessarily mean it was a good performance. At least he did not have one of his shockers like the week before, against Murphy in the final last year, etc.

I have also said on SEVERAL occasions he has some good qualities like courage.

Some accuracy please, a very offensive comparison!

Just about anything for Crouch is overhead.

my two cent....from what I have seen this year, Crouch is valuable to our side, I honestly believe he was one of the main reasons why we lost to the Lions at the Gabba earlier in the year, he had nullified Johnstone until he did his hammy, after that. Johnstone tore us a new one and game over.

If this is some sort of leg pull fair enough but if you really expect anyone to believe that a small defender who has never taken an overhead mark, at his best struggled to hit downfield targets, is five yards slower than before his injury and is in his superannuation lap improves our backline (against what??) then god help us. Jack will get Acker and that contest should be ackerjack. Over the hill small defenders trying to run out of the lightning quick Bulldogs forward line will be easy Pal for quick dogs. Crouch will be back in the more sedate twos where he can play out the remaining games of a pension contract for great service performed.

Cassissi (7 tackles), Carr (7 tackles), K.Cornes (7), Salopek and Logan would all be considered tough inside players of some description. We were tougher and we used it a damn sight better when we got it.

Only Carr would be considered "tough". You are tyring to substitute statistics for what was obvious. Port were abysmal, applied minimal pressure and were very soft. You will notice the difference this week.
