LRT not missed!

Agree completely, LRT is now an important part of the team and is still improving. He might look bad if the midfield gets thrashed but so would any backman

You are correct sir, I really dislike all this LRT bashing that goes on, why do need a scapegoat for poor performances? Every team has them, You would have to say Geelong had a bit of a bad game on the weekend wouldn't you, didn't win by their customary 10 goals, anyone lambasting single Cats? No it seems some people just don't like him, which is ahrd to understand, just goes about his business, playing his role in the team, this is the worst thread of the week, without a doubt, probably worse than the Rhyse the dud thread last week. Too many personalities on display here, after reading through the whole thread. If u dont like Lewie, bugger off and barrack for the Saints or someone else will ya?

OP, It seems you are new to AussieRules?
Did you see the 2005 GF !!! or notice what happened to Swans defense in 2007 when LRT was injured?
Here is the list. Tell us guru ... how many of the below comparative KPP backs you think are better than LRT ????.
Don't worry I will help youand give you a start by nominating some (bolded)
St Kilda: Jason Blake Sam Fisher
PORT: Alipate Carlile Troy Chaplin
BRIS: Joel Macdonald Jared Brennan
Hawthorn: Thomas Murphy Campbell Brown (Trent Croad injured)
Melb: Matthew Warnock,Stefan Martin
Essendon: Tayte Pears, Cale Hooker
Collingwood: Simon Prestigiacomo, Nathan Brown
WCE: Darren Glass Eric Mackenzie
Richmond: Kelvin Moore Luke McGuane
Adelaide: Ben Rutten Scott Stevens
Freo: Chris Tarrant, Luke McPharlin
North: Scott Thompson Nathan Grima
Bulldogs: Brian Lake Tom Williams
Geelong: Matthew Scarlett Tom Harley
Carlton: Michael Jamison Jarrad Waite
Swans: Lewis Roberts-Thomson, Craig Bolton
I can't find many that are clearly better and possibly only two combinations overall!!! Over to you guru!Comment

and btw I'd have luke mcpharlin, jarrad waite, brian lake over LRT each and every day of the week. the truth is that LRT is not that good.
But that is not the real question - the real question is that for our structure can we afford to have a doofus who offers little in attack, is mobile without being damaging etc. Does not have good hands, can bea easily shrugged aside and so on and so on.
Perhaps the answer is yes if it allows us to keep bolton, hall, kirk, o'loughlin etc etc. But when our strengths disappear (ie the current forward structure and our competitieness around the ball which restrict good attacking thrusts) it will be a real question about his worth to the team.Comment

Looks like he is.......
LRT likely to return
But seriously, you do wonder the rationale of it;
Paul Roos;
?It?s hard for the particular player. In the end, it comes down to match-ups and health,? he said before training.
Yeah, put in LRT against a small, mobile fwd line like the Dogs....Comment

This is just not an accurate reflection of kep position defenders on lists. Where is Max Hudgton, Merrett from Brisbane, Dale Morris, josh gibson, dustin fletcher and on and on and on.

Oh and if you haven't seen enough games yet?... Swans have a distinct lack of height particularly in the backline!
No point arguing with you!!!!...your "mind" seems set
Also you seem to know MUCH more about it ....than a 7 time AA , 5 time Vic state cptn, twice runner up browlow medalist, 365 AFL game .....HACK!!! ....that happens to coach Sydney Swans atm!!!

Time someone stated the obvious..he's getting hundreds of thousands to do the job..and doing it very very well! Not that opinions to the contrary are not welcome...but for heaven's sake, do try to justify them! Bland " Roos is a mug ' style statements just don't cut it!Comment

LRT is just okay, does occasional good things, does occasional bad things, and offers very little in attack, but keeps his spot because we're very light on for tall defenders.Comment

I've been impressed with the way Lewie has ramped up his skill levels: his kicking technique, handballing, awareness and his teamwork. Serial baggers of LRT don't give him credit for the hard work he does.
He's worth his weight in mobile phones.....

But honestly, I'm not sure if it's just me but damn, whenever Lewie has the ball in his hand or is around a contest whether 1-1 or pack, I get nervous and have this feeling of "oh God what's gonna happen next". Sometimes he pretends to make lazy efforts and at times looks totally lost when on his own and 40m clear of opposition.
I have a love hate r'ship with good old hyphen. I could be a bit harsh but by gosh good ol' Cletus can be funny to watch (just not around gun forwards because he can get owned alot).
